Jamal Murray Three Straight Double-Doubles vs. Lakers

Jamal Murray scored 29 points, while Michael Porter Jr. contributed 27 as the Denver Nuggets secured a 114-106 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers during a three-game road trip.

Nikola Jokic managed to score 24 points, grab 13 rebounds and dish out nine assists for the Nuggets, as they extended their winning streak to three games and improved to 8-2 in their last 10 games. Murray also contributed 11 assists and seven rebounds, while Porter secured eight boards.

The Lakers managed to tie the game at 104-104 with 2:18 remaining, but Murray and Porter’s combined efforts resulted in a 10-0 run in the final two minutes, securing the win.

This game marked the first meeting of these Western Conference teams since Denver’s 119-107 victory in the season opener for both teams.

Anthony Davis finished with 32 points and nine rebounds, and LeBron James contributed 25 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Lakers, who were coming off a 4-2 road trip.

Austin Reaves amassed 15 points and 10 assists while Taurean Prince added 13 points for the Lakers, who had their three-game winning streak end.

Neither the Nuggets nor the Lakers made any moves before Thursday’s trade deadline.

Despite falling behind by 15 points in the third quarter, the Lakers managed to close the gap to 83-79 heading into the final period.

On three occasions in the fourth quarter, the Lakers pulled within a point of the Nuggets before eventually tying the game at 94-94 with 6:41 remaining and later at 104-104 with 2:18 left, but were unable to take the lead.

The Nuggets held a 59-49 advantage at halftime after leading by as many as 12 points in the second quarter. Before the break, Murray contributed 14 points and seven assists for Denver.

Thursday’s game followed a ceremony held by the Lakers to unveil a statue for the late Kobe Bryant, the seventh to represent the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena and the first of three planned to honor Bryant.
