Pistons Make Dramatic Comeback vs. Blazers in OT

The Detroit Pistons pulled off a remarkable comeback against the Portland Trail Blazers, overturning a 23-point deficit to claim a thrilling 128-122 overtime victory. Jalen Duren was the standout performer, scoring a season-best 27 points and grabbing a career-high 22 rebounds for the Pistons.
Jaden Ivey contributed 26 points, and Cade Cunningham added 23 points for the Pistons, who have now won consecutive games for the first time since late October, despite having just eight wins all season.
Ivey was flawless from 3-point range, hitting all seven of his attempts. Rookie Marcus Sasser also had a strong game with 17 points and a career-high 11 assists.
Jerami Grant was outstanding for the Trail Blazers, scoring a career-high 49 points to go along with eight rebounds and six assists. However, it wasn’t enough to prevent Portland from suffering their third straight loss.
Anfernee Simons scored 29 points but missed the final 22 minutes due to a sprained ankle.
Jabari Walker added 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Kris Murray contributed 12 points for the Trail Blazers, who failed to score in overtime after getting the first basket.
The game-changing moment came in overtime when Sasser hit a crucial 3-pointer to give Detroit a 124-122 lead with 3:08 remaining. Duren then sealed the win with a putback dunk and Ausar Thompson added a basket to secure the victory for Detroit.
The Pistons were short-handed, using only nine players after being active before the trade deadline.
Portland was without Deandre Ayton (illness), Malcolm Brogdon (illness), and Scoot Henderson (foot).
Detroit shot 48.4 percent from the field and an impressive 59.3 percent from 3-point range. Portland shot 46.1 percent overall but struggled from beyond the arc, making just 36.7 percent of their attempts.
Despite trailing by 23 points in the third quarter, Detroit fought back to tie the game and force overtime. Duren scored three straight baskets to cut the deficit to 113-111, and Sasser’s 3-pointer made it 118-116 with 1:29 remaining in regulation.
Grant made two free throws to give Portland a 120-116 lead, but Cunningham’s jumper and Thompson’s dunk tied the game at 120 to force overtime.
Grant scored 23 points in the first half to help Portland to a 71-56 halftime lead, but Detroit’s resilience paid off as they completed the comeback to secure the win.

Wolves C Rudy Gobert (Personal) Uncertain for Game 2
The Impact of Rudy Gobert's Absence Against the Nuggets in Game 2
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.
In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.
Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.
Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
