Bulls Give Grizzlies Their 7th Consecutive Loss

DeMar DeRozan scored 30 points and secured eight rebounds. Andre Drummond contributed with a 21-point, 13-rebound double-double coming off the bench. This helped the Chicago Bulls start a four-game road trip by handing the host Memphis Grizzlies a 118-110 defeat on Thursday.
Despite trailing for most of the first three quarters against a weakened Memphis lineup, Chicago never fell behind by more than nine points. This close proximity allowed the Bulls to seize control with a 19-7 surge in the fourth quarter.
Chicago’s largest lead of eight points came with 1:48 remaining when Drummond capitalized on his first missed field-goal attempt of the night with a tip-in.
Drummond had a 10-of-11 shooting performance, while DeRozan made 11 of 17 shots, including a perfect 3 of 3 from beyond the 3-point arc.
Chicago made 43 of 79 shots (54 percent), including 12 of 26 (46 percent) from 3-point range. Drummond was the only Bull to miss a free throw on his team’s 20-of-22 performance.
In spite of the efforts of GG Jackson II and Scotty Pippen Jr., Memphis could not narrow the gap to less than five points in the final stretch.
Pippen contributed 15 points and passed one of his six assists to Jackson for a 3-pointer with 1:12 left, reducing the deficit to 108-103. This shot propelled Jackson to a career-high score of 25 points, and he added two more to finish with 27.
At 19 years and 53 days old, Jackson became the youngest player in NBA history to score 25 or more points coming off the bench.
The Grizzlies had an opportunity to close the margin to a single-possession game when Trey Jemison‘s steal set up an open 3-point opportunity for Santi Aldama. However, Aldama’s attempt rimmed out, sealing the victory for Chicago.
Jaren Jackson Jr. notched 28 points, Aldama added 15 points, and Vince Williams Jr. nearly achieved a triple-double, accumulating 13 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists.
Nikola Vucevic tallied 20 points for the Bulls and secured 10 rebounds. Coby White also scored 20 points, marking his fourth consecutive game with at least that many points. Additionally, White provided eight assists and grabbed six rebounds.

The Impact of Rudy Gobert's Absence Against the Nuggets in Game 2
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.
In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.
Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.
Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
