Anthony Edwards, Timberwolves Outclass Bucks

Anthony Edwards Drops 26 Points Against Bucks

Anthony Edwards scored 26 points and dished out nine assists alongside a dominant performance, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a comfortable 129-105 victory over the home team Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night.

Contributing 19 points, Karl-Anthony Towns was instrumental for the Minnesota team, bouncing back from an overtime defeat against the Chicago Bulls two nights earlier.

In addition, Mike Conley nailed 18 points with an impressive 6-for-7 shooting from long range, while Naz Reid added 17 points as a strong backup, and Rudy Gobert notched 16 points and secured 11 rebounds.

AJ Green delivered a remarkable 27 points from the bench for Milwaukee, steering the team’s offensive push. Jae Crowder added 21 points, and Giannis Antetokounmpo contributed 17 points for the Bucks, who have now stumbled to a 1-5 record since Doc Rivers assumed the mantle of head coach.

Due to injuries, the Bucks were without the services of Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton.

Minnesota displayed strong shooting, achieving a 55.2 percent success rate (48 of 87) overall and an impressive 51.2 percent (21 of 41) from beyond the arc.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee managed a 49.4 percent shooting rate (40 of 81) from the field and 42.4 percent (14 of 33) from 3-point range.

A dominating third quarter proved pivotal for the Timberwolves as they established a commanding position. Outscoring Milwaukee 39-22 during the quarter, Minnesota surged ahead to a 102-75 lead heading into the final 12 minutes.

Both Conley and Towns made two 3-pointers each in the third quarter, with Edwards adding a stunning long-range shot from 30 feet. Towns’ successful attempt from beyond the arc brought the Timberwolves to the 100-point mark with just 42 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Minnesota held a 63-53 advantage at halftime.

Before the break, Edwards led all scorers with 17 points, while Crowder led the Bucks with 16 points.

The game was deadlocked at 32-32 before the Timberwolves embarked on a 12-4 surge to secure an eight-point lead with 6:20 left in the first half, highlighted by a powerful dunk from Gobert.

Expanding their lead, Minnesota extended their first-half advantage to a substantial 14 points when Kyle Anderson made a jump shot with 2:45 remaining in the half.

Antetokounmpo added a short shot with three seconds remaining to wrap up the scoring for the first half.

In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.

Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.

Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.

If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
