At present, the Walker Wildcats stand alone at the top of the Top 25 Louisiana Girls High School Basketball Rankings. They made a statement by defeating J.S. Clark, which was previously ranked No. 17, by over 40 points.
Denham Springs, one of the few teams that kept Walker on their toes in earlier matches, is set to host the Wildcats for a District 5-5A game on January 24. Keep reading to see the shifts in rankings this week.

1. Walker (24-0)

The Wildcats have claimed victories against Huntington, Glen Oaks, and J.S. Clark. Senior forward Arionna Patterson standout performance included 24 points in their 59-19 victory over defending Division V select champion J.S. Clark, along with a personal-best 11 steals and five assists. Logan Cookmeyer also made significant contributions, scoring 17 points alongside three rebounds and three assists.
2. Parkway (14-2)

The Panthers secured a win against J.S. Clark, finishing 55-35, with Dakota Howard and Savannah Wilson each contributing 11 points, according to Jimmy Watson from The Shreveport Times. Parkway has triumphed in five of their last six outings.
3. Lafayette Christian (15-5)

The Knights have extended their winning streak to 10 games, outperforming Southern Lab, Ponchatoula, and Lafayette Renaissance. Kaliyah Samuels led the charge with 20 points in the first quarter alone during their 68-7 victory over Lafayette Renaissance in the district opener. LCA was ahead 34-4 by the start of the second quarter, according to Shannon Belt from The Daily Advertiser.
4. Huntington (9-4)

The Raiders faced a close loss at Walker (51-48) but rebounded to secure a victory against Wossman in overtime, 69-58. Carley Hamilton was exceptional, scoring 33 points and Kyndal Graham contributing 21 against Wossman as the Raiders extended their home winning streak to 14 games. Head coach Brian Shyne was reinstated by LHSAA following a reduction of his 45-day suspension.

The Wildcats defeated Carroll but fell to Huntington. Wossman, having lost two of their last five games after a 14-game winning streak, is set to start district play on January 17 with a home game against Tioga (15-6).

The Broncos achieved wins against Phoenix, Destrehan, and John Curtis Christian; Ava Raymond scored 33 points along with 12 rebounds in their 76-61 victory at John Curtis. Tiarra McPipe also had a notable performance, contributing 25 points and 13 rebounds. Zachary decisively beat Destrehan, who had previously won against John Curtis, with a 75-45 score. The Broncos are scheduled to play against Oak Hill on January 16.

The Patriots faced defeat against Zachary, losing 76-61. As the reigning state champions, they have struggled, losing two of their last three matches. Curtis is entering Catholic League play on January 16 against Warren Easton (10-13). They will be up against tough competitors in the league, including Dominican (18-2, ranked No. 2 in D1), Edna Karr (19-3, ranked No. 4), Archbishop Chapelle (15-3, ranked No. 8), and Mount Carmel (12-4, ranked No. 10).

The Cubs managed to secure a win against Lafayette High but fell in overtime against Woodlawn-BR, with a final score of 60-51. U-High found themselves trailing Lafayette 11-0 but made a solid comeback to win, 49-42. In their game against Woodlawn, Kennedy Aldridge and Ryli Martin each scored 12 points, with the Cubs managing to turn a deficit of 11 points in the first quarter into a two-point lead by the fourth quarter, thanks to a put-back by Taylor Lee, as reported by Robin Fambrough of The Baton Rouge Advocate.
9. Southern Lab (13-4)

The Kittens suffered a defeat against Lafayette Christian, losing 48-43, but bounced back to secure a victory over Edna Karr, 42-28. Shaila Forman led the charge with 18 points in the win over Karr, while Kori Wesley and Jamya Cain combined efforts to score 13 points.
10. Natchitoches-Central (18-1)

The Chiefs emerged victorious against Denham Springs, winning 52-46, where Akeelah Wade led with 20 points, followed by Anna Newton and Jayla Llorence, each scoring 11 points. The Chiefs will host Haughton (20-1) in their District 1-5A opener on January 17, as they face a competitive league featuring Parkway, Airline (14-2), Benton (17-7), Captain Shreve (17-4), and Huntington.

The Buccaneers secured a victory over St. Thomas More, finishing with a score of 37-21. Junior Danyele Wallace, standing at 6 feet tall, achieved a double-double in a past contest against Sulphur, contributing 10 points and 10 rebounds. Leading the team, Jordyn Blanchard netted 14 points, while Mia Colston added 12.
12. Fairview (26-4)

The Panthers triumphed over Lake Charles College Prep and Hicks. Fairview is set to kick off district play against Pitkin (14-12) with sophomore Charley Lentz, already a career 1,000-point scorer, on January 21.

The Terriers topped another Houma-area team, H.L. Bourgeois, by a score of 48-38, ending H.L. Bourgeois’ impressive 10-game winning streak. Vandebilt Catholic is slated to host South Terrebonne (10-6) in the District 8-4A opener on January 24.

The Broncos faced a loss to Leesville (75-70) but picked up wins against Division III select No. 3 Rosepine (55-47) and Holy Savior Menard (56-17).

Cass Antoine led with 28 points, while Noliance Eugene chipped in with 10.
20. Alexandria (17-3)

The Trojans edged past Oak Hill, winning 61-56. Their only defeats have come to Walker, Simpson, and Southwood in the second game of the season. Alexandria finished strong against Oak Hill, closing with a 16-7 run, according to LaMar Gafford of Cenla Preps.

The Rams secured a win against Grant Parish but lost to Alexandria. Jodie Jowers had an impressive performance, registering 16 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and four steals in the 64-33 victory over Grant.

The Tigers pulled off a thrilling overtime win against Madison Prep (63-62) and also bested Northwood-Shreveport. They are set to face Alexandria (17-3) in their District 2-5A opener on January 17.
