This Friday and Saturday, the National Prep Wrestling Tournament is set to take place at Stabler Arena on the Lehigh University campus in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The weekly rankings we’ve been sharing have transformed into seeds that were finalized on Tuesday night after a one-day appeal period that followed Monday’s announcements.
Leading up to last weekend’s qualifiers, it became evident that No. 3 Wyoming Seminary would miss some key wrestlers, impacting the dynamics of the team competition. Nevertheless, the Blue Knights managed to successfully fend off No. 7 Malvern Prep to secure the PAISWT Championship.
This weekend, Seminary will still showcase three defending champions: No. 5 Matthew Botello (132), No. 21 Anthony Evanitsky (150), and No. 1 Jude Correa (215). Botello and Correa have earned the top seeds in their respective categories, while Evanitsky is positioned as the second seed.
Correa aims to achieve the status of being the 13th four-time National Prep Tournament Champion. The senior would become just the second Blue Knight to reach this milestone, alongside Beau Bartlett (2017-2020), who is notably the last to achieve this honor.
In total, Wyoming Seminary boasts nine wrestlers seeded within the top five. Alongside the champions, noteworthy competitors include No. 17 Wyatt Stauffer (5th seed at 106), Wyatt Spencer (3rd at 113, receiving honorable mention in national rankings), No. 25 Dale Corbin (2nd at 138), Matthew Dimen (2nd at 144), honorable mention Jack Chamberlain (No. 5 at 165), and No. 21 Brian Chamberlain (No. 3 at 175).
Additional Blue Knights who received seeds include Nikos Filipos (8th at 126) and three wrestlers with the ninth seed: Wyatt Fry (157), Anthony Broscino (190), and Anderson Palian (285).
No. 4 Lake Highland Prep emerges as a significant contender against the Blue Knights’ prospects for repeating success. The Highlanders feature a remarkable six number one seeds among their 13 wrestlers on the board. Similar to Seminary, they have nine grapplers placed in the top five.
From 138 to 165 lbs, five Lake Highland athletes claimed the top seed: No. 7 Jayce Paridon (138), No. 16 Charlie DeSena (144), No. 7 Zeno Moore (150), No. 9 Lucas Boe (157), and No. 8 Claudio “CJ” Torres (165). The top position at 285 is held by No. 6 Jacob Levy.
Torres won a title during his sophomore year and finished third last season. Moore has steadily climbed the ranks, finishing sixth as an eighth grader, fourth as a sophomore, and third last year. DeSena was sixth in his freshman campaign before becoming a runner-up last year. Boe took third in 2024, while Paridon secured fourth. Levy is entering this tournament for the first time after transferring from Georgia for his senior year.
No. 7 Robert Kucharczk is seeded third at 190. Competing as four seeds are Liam Davis (113, HM) and No. 27 Alex Smith (215). Marlo Clark (120) and Miguel Rojas (175) begin their matches seeded eighth. Adaias Ortiz comes in at 126 as the 12th seed, while Clinton Plotner is 14th at 132.
Malvern Prep is kicking off the tournament with five wrestlers in top five positions, featuring two at No. 1: No. 4 Justin Farnsworth (106) and Matt O’Neill (126). No. 21 Tyler Conroy is positioned as the second seed at 132. The number four seeds include Jason Torres (138) and Declan O’Byrne (150).
Malvern’s other seeded wrestlers include Brendan Kelly (7th at 113), Rocco Lombardo (14th at 120), Raymond Fitzgerald (No. 8 at 144), Stephen Smith (No. 6 at 157), Chase Hetrick (No. 11 at 165), Matthew Connolly (10th at 190), Mark Feldman (9th at 215), and Stosh Zalota (10th at 285).
For the Friars to truly contend with the formidable Blue Knights and Highlanders, they will need to disrupt the brackets significantly. Connolly, Kelly, and Zalota are returning placers, with Connolly and Zalota facing daunting challenges after unexpected losses in their qualifiers. The top eight competitors will earn the title of All-Americans.
No. 9 Blair Academy could surprise everyone with the addition of two post-grads to their roster: Jeremy Pitcock (190) and heavyweight Jackson Schwab, who is seated 12th and 6th, respectively.
All eyes will be focused on No. 1 Leo DeLuca as he seeks to reclaim his position atop the podium for the first time since his freshman year. After winning the championship then finishing second in the following two years, the top-seeded DeLuca is a strong favorite, especially since No. 2 seed Jack Baron (Germantown Academy) has not achieved national recognition, and No. 21 Isaac Novod (Belmont Hill) holds the third seed.
Seeking his second consecutive title, No. 3 William Henckel (175) has added a runner-up finish as a freshman and a bronze finish as a sophomore to his accolades. Like DeLuca, Henckel is anticipated to dominate, although he may face tougher competition in the finals from No. 11 Maximus Norman of the Baylor School.
The Bucs’ second seeds include No. 16 Michael Batista (113) and No. 12 Vince Anello (126), with Joseph Schinder ranked fifth at 157.
Seven more Buccaneers have been awarded seeds. Honorable mention Weston Borgers (138) and Barry Norman (165) secured the sixth seeds. No. 29 Eddie George (106) is seeded seventh, with eighth seeds going to Ellis Kirsch (132) and TJ Kellas (215). Vedwin Nivas is ranked tenth at 144 and Ryan Meier is 11th at 150.
No. 30 Greens Farms Academy features five wrestlers among the top five seeds and has a total of twelve seeded athletes. Two of them are positioned at number three: No. 16 Liam Carlin (165) and No. 25 Kingston Daniels Silva (215). Three others secured fourth-place spots: Jackson Heslin (126), Ben Zuckerman (144), and Dominic Iaquinto (285).
Greens Farms’ Brighton Karvoski (106) holds the sixth seed. Seventh seeds include Brady Kaupp (132) and Tyler Neiva (175). Chase Kastner is seated ninth at 120. Financially, Joseph Mahoney (138) and Ryan Schneider (190) occupy the eleventh seeds. Finally, Will Motley rounds out the rankings at fifteenth for 157.
No. 34 Northfield Mount Hermon received a harsh blow by Greens Farms in their dual but held strong against them at the New England qualifier. Their efforts culminate in four top-five seeds, complemented by a total of ten seeded wrestlers.
Two competitors will commence in the No. 2 position: Nate Consigli (157) and No. 13 James Bechter (285). No. 22 Elliott Humphries finds himself seeded fourth at 175, while Dylan Greenstein is positioned fifth at 285.
Reese Spiro is ranked sixth at 190, with Myles Burroughs securing the ninth seed at 150. Post-grad Seth Digby is seeded tenth at 165. Luke Galipeau (120) and Colby Houle (144) both earned the 11th seed, while Dom Marinelli is 12th at 132.
Among the competitors outside of the major rankings, two wrestlers were awarded number one seeds: No. 6 Julian Rios (Phillips Andover, 113) and No. 4 Lane Foard (Benedictine Prep, 190).
Rios was a runner-up last year and finished fourth two years ago as a freshman. Foard received the number one seed over No. 3 Emmitt Sherlock (Gilman School) due to his consistent performance at 190, while Sherlock is just beginning to rise on the national circuit. Over the past two years, Foard and Sherlock faced off four times, with Sherlock victorious in all encounters, including two at the last two National Prep Tournaments.
Sherlock’s record includes a second-place finish last year, a sixth as a sophomore, a fifth in his freshman season, and a third as an eighth grader, positioning him to potentially become only the ninth five-time National Prep All-American.
The 106lbs weight class is particularly competitive, showcasing seven nationally ranked wrestlers, along with Brock Humphrey (Linsly School), who has a win over Blair’s George. The other ranked wrestlers in this class include Farnsworth, No. 20 Tanner Tran (Father Ryan), No. 25 Ariah Mills (Athens Christian), No. 28 Tyler Verceles (Loyola-Blakefield), Stauffer, and Benedictine Prep’s honorable mention Royce Wetzler.
The 175 and 190 weight categories each feature five wrestlers nationally ranked. Four can be found in the 113, 138, 150, 165, and 215 classes, while 120 and 132 include three ranked wrestlers. The 126 and 285 classes have just two ranked competitors, and 144 and 157 feature only Lake Highland Prep grapplers: DeSena and Boe, respectively.
