Minnesota Timberwolves defender Anthony Edwards endeavored on Monday to create some separation between himself and the textual communications he composed to a woman that seem to be encouraging her to undergo a termination.

“During a moment of passion, I expressed sentiments that do not reflect my true self and do not align with my beliefs and aspirations as a man,” conveyed Edwards on X, previously known as Twitter, on Monday.

“All females should be assisted and empowered to make their own choices regarding their bodies and what is most suitable for them. I am addressing my personal affairs privately and will refrain from providing further comments on them at this time.”

Edwards, aged 22, was mentioned in an Instagram post by Paige Jordae on Sunday, which included text messages purportedly exchanged between her and the Timberwolves athlete.

In the claimed messages, Jordae reveals an image of a positive pregnancy test and Edwards replies, “Definitely not, can’t handle this,” then “Terminate it lol.”

When Jordae expresses remorse about a previous termination, Edwards persists in apparently advising her to undergo a termination, sending messages such as, “I do not want a child,” “I will provide you with funds to assist you,” “you have the money, what’s the delay?” and “simply ingest the pills.”

He also frequently requested a recording of her ingesting the termination pills, writing, “Okay, just ensure that I receive the video of the box containing the correct pills.”

Jordae’s screenshots depict her sharing a video that she alleges to be of her ingesting the pills, but Edwards again sends a message that includes, “you need to forward the video.”

Subsequently, Jordae posted an Instagram story revealing a document of an incoming wire transfer for $100,000, as reported by multiple sources.

On the basketball court, Edwards is producing an average of 24.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game this season with the Timberwolves, who hold the best record in the Western Conference at 19-5. They are playing against the Miami Heat on the road Monday night.
