Struggling Warriors Face Off Against Banged-Up 76ers

The Golden State Warriors will be facing the visiting Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, having suffered two consecutive narrow defeats.
The Warriors have lost four of their last five games, including three out of four since Draymond Green returned from a suspension.
With Green back in the lineup, the offensive tempo of Golden State has increased, scoring 134 and 133 points in regular games before totaling 144 points in a double-overtime loss against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night.
Green has amassed 11 assists in each of the Warriors’ previous two matches, including their 134-133 home defeat to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday. Additionally, he secured a season-high of 14 rebounds in the loss to the Lakers.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr reinstated Green in the starting lineup against Los Angeles for the first time since the suspension, and star Stephen Curry was one of those who endorsed the decision.
“That lineup (with Green at center), we got some speed, we have some athleticism, we have Draymond’s brain and mind and just the way that he sees the floor defensively,” Curry said after scoring 46 points on Saturday. “You have a lot of confidence with that group. There’s a lot of good to see out there.”
The starting lineup on Saturday also included Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Jonathan Kuminga, all of whom scored over 20 points. The Warriors have two days off to recover after their loss to the Lakers.
The 76ers are entering the Tuesday match following a 130-104 defeat against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday.
Thirteen 76ers players saw game time in the team’s third consecutive loss. Center Joel Embiid (left knee) and Tyrese Maxey (left ankle) each missed their second consecutive game.
Prior to Monday’s game, 76ers coach Nick Nurse mentioned that Embiid had warmed up but faced difficulty while jumping.
When asked if Embiid might return against Golden State, Nurse commented, “I don’t want to rule him out at all, so I guess we’ll just see how we’re doing (before the game).”
The 76ers are also without De’Anthony Melton (back) and Robert Covington (left knee).
Tobias Harris made a comeback against the Blazers after missing the previous two matches due to an illness, contributing nine points in 20 minutes.
In their most recent game, Embiid scored 31 points and Maxey tallied 22 in Philadelphia’s 134-122 loss at Indiana on Thursday. Both players sat out the 76ers’ 111-105 defeat at Denver on Saturday and then the one-sided loss at Portland on Monday.
Paul Reed started in place of Embiid against Nikola Jokic in Denver, outscoring the two-time league MVP 30-26 while grabbing 13 rebounds. Reed then had just 11 points and six boards against Portland.

Wolves C Rudy Gobert (Personal) Uncertain for Game 2
The Impact of Rudy Gobert's Absence Against the Nuggets in Game 2
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.
In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.
Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.
Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
