Stephen Curry scored 33 points and dished out eight assists, while Draymond Green contributed with 21 points, 11 assists, six rebounds, and six steals in the Golden State Warriors’ 117-113 victory over the undermanned San Antonio Spurs in a crucial late-season clash in the Western Conference.
Despite a slow start, Golden State rallied to narrow the gap to eight points by halftime. They then surged ahead by scoring the first 14 points of the third quarter, seizing the lead they never relinquished. San Antonio mounted a late comeback, cutting the deficit to 113-111 with under a minute to play, powered by Victor Wembanyama‘s six points in a 9-0 burst.
Klay Thompson drained a crucial second-chance 3-pointer with 39 seconds left to extend the Warriors’ lead to five. Following a pair of free throws by Wembanyama, Green made one of two from the charity stripe with 3.9 seconds on the clock to seal the victory.
With their fourth consecutive road win, the Warriors (40-34) now sit two games ahead of Houston in the battle for the 10th seed in the West and the final spot in the play-in tournament, with just eight games remaining.
Klay Thompson contributed 13 points, while Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Jonathan Kuminga missed his third consecutive game due to knee tendinitis.
Wembanyama starred for the Spurs with 32 points and nine rebounds. Cedi Osman scored 18 points, Zach Collins had 13, Malaki Branham and Tre Jones each chipped in with 12 points, and Sandro Mamukelashvili recorded 10 points and 11 rebounds.
San Antonio (18-57) was missing starters Devin Vassell (foot) and Jeremy Sochan (ankle), as well as key reserve Keldon Johnson (foot).
After falling behind 32-19 early on, the Warriors closed the gap to 34-27 by the end of the first quarter, thanks to a late jumper by Chris Paul. San Antonio extended their lead to 10 points, but a layup from Green helped Golden State trim the deficit to 60-52 at halftime.
Osman led all scorers with 15 points in the first half, while Curry paced the Warriors with 12 points. Surprisingly, Golden State did not attempt a single free throw in the entire first half.
Golden State took control early in the third quarter with a 14-0 run that included nine points from Green and a three-pointer by Curry. The Warriors stretched their lead to as many as 11 points in the period and entered the final quarter with an 89-81 advantage.

Wolves C Rudy Gobert (Personal) Uncertain for Game 2
The Impact of Rudy Gobert's Absence Against the Nuggets in Game 2
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.
In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.
Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.
Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
