Pelicans Set Franchise Record with 153 Points Against Jazz

New Orleans Pelicans Set New Franchise Record With 150 PTS

CJ McCollum scored 33 points as the New Orleans Pelicans, with a remarkable shooting performance, achieved a franchise-record point total in their 153-124 win over the visiting Utah Jazz on Tuesday night.

McCollum made 9 of 13 3-point shots and the Pelicans made 23 of 46, bouncing back from a 23.8 percent shooting performance in their previous game against the Phoenix Suns, where they made 10 of 42 attempts.

On Tuesday, New Orleans shot 57.7 percent from the field.

In addition to McCollum’s performance, Herbert Jones Jr. scored 22 points (making all four of his 3-point attempts), Brandon Ingram contributed 18 points, Jonas Valanciunas tallied 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Zion Williamson added 17 points and a career-high 11 assists.

New Orleans recorded a franchise-record 41 assists, surpassing their previous team mark for points set in a 149-129 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 19, 2018.

Collin Sexton scored 22 points, Simone Fontecchio had 18, and John Collins added 14 for the Jazz, who made 12 of 36 attempts from beyond the arc and suffered their third consecutive loss following a six-game winning streak.

At halftime, the home team held an 18-point advantage before Fontecchio opened the scoring in the third quarter with a four-point play, sparking a 24-14 run for the Jazz, cutting the deficit to eight points.

However, Ingram and Williamson responded with back-to-back baskets, followed by 3-pointers from McCollum, Trey Murphy III, and Naji Marshall, extending New Orleans’ lead to 115-91 by the end of the third quarter.

McCollum’s 11-point contribution, including three 3-pointers, saw the Pelicans take their largest lead of the first quarter, 29-19.

Although the Jazz narrowed the gap to one point on two occasions, Nance’s 3-pointer gave the Pelicans a 34-30 lead at the end of the period.

In the second quarter, Jordan Hawkins made two 3-pointers, while McCollum and Valanciunas each made one, as the Pelicans commenced with a 16-3 run, securing a 17-point lead.

Although Utah reduced the deficit to 10 points twice, New Orleans restored their advantage to 21 points on two occasions.

Nance sealed the Pelicans’ 77-59 halftime lead with the final five points of the quarter.
