Last week’s unexpected outcomes kept the excitement alive as the Top 25 high school basketball rankings welcomed three new teams to the list.
Former No. 3 Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.), No. 15 Cretin-Derham Hall (St. Paul, Minn.), No. 19 Owasso (Okla.), and No. 25 University of Detroit Jesuit (Detroit, Mich.) all faced defeats at the hands of unranked opponents.
Gonzaga only slipped one position after its recent loss, while the other three teams fell out of the rankings, paving the way for No. 23 Huntsville (Ala.), No. 24 Lake Ridge (Mansfield, Texas), and No. 25 Christ School (Arden, N.C.) to join the ranks.
Among the ranked teams, just three remain undefeated. No. 5 Hoover (Ala.), No. 10 Fishers (Ind.), and No. 17 Reidsville (N.C.) collectively boast an impressive 125-game winning streak dating back to last season.
This week marks the start of playoff season, with 11 teams in the national rankings already finishing regular-season play, while another 11 are preparing to conclude their regular-season games in the next few days.
