Nets Crush 76ers with Cam Thomas Scoring 40

The visiting Brooklyn Nets outplayed the short-handed Philadelphia 76ers 136-121 on Saturday with Cam Thomas securing 40 points and Mikal Bridges adding 23.
Lonnie Walker IV contributed 20 points, Cameron Johnson scored 13, and Nic Claxton had 12 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocked shots for Brooklyn.
Former Sixer Ben Simmons, now with the Nets, was constantly jeered whenever he had possession. Simmons concluded the game with nine rebounds and five assists in 14 minutes without attempting a shot.
The 76ers, on the other hand, played without their reigning MVP Joel Embiid, who was sidelined due to a left meniscus injury. The extent of the injury and the duration of Embiid’s absence have not been disclosed.
Philadelphia also had Tobias Harris (illness) and role players De’Anthony Melton (back), Nicolas Batum (hamstring), and Robert Covington (knee) missing.
Tyrese Maxey, who had scored a career-high 51 points in the Sixers’ last game against the Utah Jazz, led the way with 23 points on Saturday. Terquavion Smith achieved a career-high 17 points, Kelly Oubre Jr. contributed 16, and KJ Martin and Jaden Springer chipped in with 11 each.
Philadelphia’s frustration reached its peak with 8:38 remaining in the fourth quarter when Patrick Beverley received two technical fouls and was ejected with the 76ers trailing 111-88.
The Nets further extended their lead to 125-95 just under three minutes later and never looked back as they cruised to victory.
Brooklyn was leading 38-22 at the conclusion of the first quarter and stretched their lead to as many as 25 points in the second before heading into the locker room with a 67-51 advantage.
Bridges led the Nets with 17 points, and the team managed to shoot 54.5 percent from the field, including 12 of 26 from beyond the arc, before the halftime break.
Maxey led the Sixers with 16 points in the first half.
In the third quarter, Walker grabbed an offensive rebound and scored, giving Brooklyn an 87-65 lead with 5:34 remaining. Following an unsuccessful possession by the Sixers, Johnson slammed down a dunk, increasing the lead to 24 points.
At the close of the third quarter, Brooklyn was dominating with a score of 105-82.

The Impact of Rudy Gobert's Absence Against the Nuggets in Game 2
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.
In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.
Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.
Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
