Toronto Raptors hosting the game must face the impressive shooting performance of Donte DiVincenzo from the New York Knicks as they aim to break their 11-game losing streak on Wednesday night.

Netting a team-high 11 3-pointers on Monday, DiVincenzo set the court ablaze with a career-best 40 points in the Knicks’ 124-99 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

DiVincenzo recorded a shooting rate of 14-for-23 from the field, with a remarkable 20 shots attempted from beyond the arc.

He now only trails Evan Fournier‘s club record of 241 3-pointers in a season by a close margin of eight.

“Impressive, and he’s been doing it all year,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said. “I thought his teammates helped create good shots for him, he knocked them down and played hard the whole game.”

Currently standing at 43-28, the Knicks have triumphed in six of their last seven matchups.

On the flip side, the Raptors (23-49) suffered a 96-88 defeat against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, extending their winless streak to the past 11 games.

In all prior three encounters between the teams this season, the Knicks emerged victorious.

Apart from DiVincenzo, the Knicks possess other threats on the court. All-Star guard Jalen Brunson contributed 28 points in Monday’s game, while Josh Hart exhibited his sixth triple-double since January with 11 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists.

The crowd erupted in cheers as DiVincenzo surpassed the previous team 3-pointer record shared by J.R. Smith and Fournier.

“Yes, it’s an amazing feeling having the crowd behind you,” DiVincenzo said, “but also like every time you touch the ball, they’re like, ‘Shoot! Shoot!'”

Ranked third in the NBA for 3-pointers made this season, DiVincenzo had one attempt invalidated in the third quarter on Monday due to stepping out of bounds.

“The crowd was speeding me up,” he said. “That emotion where you get like a sliver of space, and the crowd, as soon as you catch the ball, you can hear the crowd.”

“Really I’ve said this, it’s the best fans in the league in that moment. It’s a dream of like, ‘Slow down, take your time, and shoot the ball.'”

Julius Randle, sidelined due to a dislocated shoulder, missed his 26th consecutive game for the Knicks on Monday.

Former Raptor OG Anunoby, recovering from elbow issues, remains out. Thibodeau mentioned that although Anunoby has engaged in shooting drills, his return is pending until the inflammation in his elbow subsides.

Having been traded to the Knicks in late January, Anunoby’s replacements, Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett, were absent for personal reasons but are back with the team and anticipated to return to action soon.

“They’re just now in the process of reconditioning,” Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic said. “We’re going to take it day by day and see, as a group, if (when they are) going to be physically and mentally ready to join the team and play.”

Notable absentees for the Raptors include key players Scottie Barnes (hand) and Jakob Poeltl (finger).

Moreover, backup center Jontay Porter is sidelined as an investigation related to gambling unfolds.

“Easily the most change … the most things happening, personal levels, injuries,” Toronto forward Garrett Temple said. “This is easily the, I guess you could say, the craziest season I’ve been a part of in terms of all of these, all of these parts, all of these things happening.”

Registering 23 assists on Monday, the Raptors achieved a new team record this season with a total of 2,086 assists, surpassing the prior mark of 2,085 set during the 2018-19 season.

Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.

In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.

Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.

Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
