New York Knicks’ big man Mitchell Robinson sustained a stress fracture in his previously operated-on left ankle, leading to a timeline of six to eight weeks for reassessment, as detailed by the team on Tuesday evening.

It’s highly probable that Robinson’s season is over, considering that the NBA Finals could potentially extend until June 23, approximately six weeks from now.

During Game 1 of the Knicks’ playoff series against the Indiana Pacers, Robinson logged 12 minutes on the court and contributed two points to the team’s 121-117 victory.

Prior to the official declaration by the Knicks, he had already been ruled out for Game 2 due to the necessity of managing his left ankle injury.

Recent reports indicated that Robinson underwent examinations earlier on Tuesday and, for now, surgery is not being considered as a potential course of action.

Throughout his injury-plagued sixth NBA season, encompassing 31 games with 21 starting appearances, Robinson maintained averages of 5.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.1 blocks, and his career-high of 1.2 steals per game.

In the Knicks’ initial series against Philadelphia, he participated in five out of six games, amassing averages of 3.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.2 steals.
