Keegan Murray successfully made eight 3-pointers and achieved a total of 32 points and nine rebounds as the Sacramento Kings kept their hopes alive with a commanding 118-94 win over the visiting Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.
De’Aaron Fox contributed 24 points for the ninth-ranked Sacramento team, which dominated the play-in game between the 9th and 10th places.
The Pelicans will compete against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday, with the victor securing the 8th seed in the Western Conference playoffs and a chance to face the number one-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.
Stephen Curry tallied 22 points for the Warriors, who held the 10th spot in the Western Conference and will be absent from the playoffs for the third time in five seasons.
Curry had six turnovers, while his longtime teammate Klay Thompson had a disappointing performance, failing to score as he missed all 10 of his shot attempts.
Substitutes Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga each contributed 16 points for the Warriors. Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins of Golden State managed to score 12 points each.
The win was revenge for the Kings, who squandered a 2-0 lead in a playoff series against Golden State last season, with the Warriors winning four of the last five matchups.
Harrison Barnes recorded 17 points and Domantas Sabonis added 16 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists for the Kings. Keon Ellis chipped in with 15 points, five assists, three steals, and three blocks for Sacramento, who shot 43.9 percent from the field, including 18 of 39 (46.2 percent) from beyond the arc.
The Warriors shot 41.2 percent from the field and made 10 of 32 (31.2 percent) of their 3-point attempts.
Sabonis scored four consecutive points, and Barnes followed with a jump shot to give the Kings a 97-78 lead with 9:35 remaining in the game.
Despite Golden State closing the gap to 13 points, Murray and Barnes hit 3-pointers to extend the lead to 105-86 with 6:09 left. Barnes then sunk four free throws, increasing the lead to 23 with 4:39 remaining.
Murray nailed his eighth 3-pointer to make it 116-90 with 2:15 left as the Kings secured the victory.
Murray scored 14 of his 16 first-half points in the initial quarter, propelling Sacramento to a 31-22 lead after the first 12 minutes.
The Kings held a 16-point lead early in the second quarter before the Warriors cut the deficit to 54-50 at halftime. Kuminga had 12 points in the first half for the Warriors.
Sacramento used a 21-7 run during the third quarter to stretch their lead to 77-62 after Fox’s 3-pointer with 5:39 left in the period. The Warriors reduced the margin to 81-71 on Moody’s basket with 3:53 remaining before the Kings entered the final quarter with a 91-76 advantage.

Wolves C Rudy Gobert (Personal) Uncertain for Game 2
The Impact of Rudy Gobert's Absence Against the Nuggets in Game 2
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.
In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.
Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.
Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
