Registering 22 points, Luka Samanic, and 20 points by Keyonte George, the depleted Utah Jazz managed to break their 13-game losing streak with a close 124-121 win over the Houston Rockets on Thursday night in Salt Lake City.

In a remarkable turn of events where seven of Utah’s key players were absent for various reasons, seven alternative Jazz athletes rose to the occasion by scoring double digits, providing the fans with an exhilarating win in the final home game of the season.

The Jazz bench players excelled, with Brice Sensabaugh contributing 17 points, Talen Horton-Tucker adding 16, and Kenneth Lofton Jr. contributing 14 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. The substitute players of Utah outperformed those of Houston by a score of 57-46.

Despite Fred VanVleet leading all scorers with 42 points and sinking nine 3-pointers on a 12-of-30 shooting performance, the Rockets (39-41) suffered their sixth loss in seven games.

Cam Whitmore contributed 18 points coming off the bench, Amen Thompson managed 15 points alongside 10 rebounds, and former Jazz member Jeff Green scored 13 points.

Houston enjoyed a 12-point advantage in the initial half, mainly due to VanVleet’s impressive 20-point performance in the first quarter.

The Jazz (30-50) made a strong comeback to claim a seven-point lead early in the second half following a 13-0 surge stretching across the second and third quarters.

VanVleet initiated another scoring spree, netting three 3-pointers and all of Houston’s points in a 13-5 burst that pushed the Rockets ahead 83-82 with 5:18 remaining in the third period.

Heading into the thrilling final quarter, the Jazz maintained a 98-96 lead.

Securing the decisive lead for Utah was Darius Bazley with a layup at 2:18 on the clock, breaking the 118-118 tie and initiating a 6-0 streak.

In the tense final moments, both VanVleet and Dillon Brooks missed potential game-tying three-point shots.

Despite nailing 21 out of 47 shots from beyond the arc, the Rockets ended up defeated. Despite their sharpshooting from long range, Houston only managed to shoot 42.1 percent from the field.

The Jazz, shooting at a impressive rate of 50.6 percent from the field, achieved their first victory since defeating the Atlanta Hawks on March 15.
