Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun Lead Rockets to Victory vs. Lakers

Jalen Green & Alperen Sengun Make NBA History

The Houston Rockets secured a convincing 135-119 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, propelled by outstanding performances from Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun.

Green delivered an impressive third consecutive double-double, amassing 34 points, a career-best 12 rebounds, and seven assists, while Sengun contributed 31 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists.

Their combined effort fueled a remarkable offensive display from the Rockets, who shot 53.1% from the field and scored 29 points on fastbreaks.

Rookie Cam Whitmore made a notable impact off the bench with 20 points, and Jabari Smith Jr. added 18 points and nine rebounds.

Additionally, Dillon Brooks contributed 17 points as the Rockets led by as many as 30 before the Lakers initiated a fourth-quarter comeback. This victory marked the Rockets’ second win in three games.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and D’Angelo Russell each scored 23 points for the Lakers, with James also recording a team-high 10 assists. Despite winning five of their previous seven games, the Lakers were unable to overcome the Rockets’ dominant performance.

The Rockets extended their lead with a 12-1 run at the beginning of the second half, ultimately securing a commanding 94-64 advantage after a transition basket from Smith.

Although the Lakers staged a gradual comeback, the Rockets consistently responded, maintaining their lead, including a critical 3-pointer from Green that widened the margin to 108-83 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Despite a resurgence from the Lakers’ bench in the fourth quarter, the Rockets maintained their composure and sealed the victory at the free-throw line. Green’s spirited performance was complemented by Russell’s strong showing in the first period, with both players scoring 13 points each.

The Rockets entered the second period with a 42-31 lead, extending it to 62-41 with a Green 3-pointer.

The Rockets continued their dominance in the first half, maintaining a 78-60 halftime lead with contributions from five players scoring in double figures, including Whitmore’s 16 points off the bench.

The team’s strong first-half performance, shooting 55.6% from the field and capitalizing on 20 fastbreak points, set the stage for their eventual victory.
