The Top 25 girls basketball rankings experienced some shifts following an eventful Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, where games during the Spalding Hoophall Classic took center stage.
Defending national champion Etiwanda (Calif.) made a significant leap, rising five positions to No. 13 in this week’s Top 25 high school girls basketball rankings after defeating No. 16 Incarnate Word Academy (St. Louis, Mo.) 75-64 on Monday during the Hoophall Classic.
This win ended Incarnate Word Academy’s impressive 141-game win streak, which lasted over five seasons. Aliyahna Morris, committed to Cal, spearheaded the Eagles’ victory with 26 points, while LSU-bound Grace Knox contributed 13 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks. Nevaeh Caffey, committed to Indiana, was the standout for the Red Knights with a game-high 32 points in the defeat.
No. 1 Ontario Christian (Ontario, Calif.) maintained its top spot with an 87-75 win against the renowned Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.) at the Hoophall Classic. Kaleena Smith contributed 26 points and 12 assists, whereas freshman Tati Griffin also matched her with 26 points.
No. 2 Morris Catholic (Denville, N.J.) and No. 8 Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.) each ascended one rank this week after securing wins against No. 9 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.), which tumbled seven spots in the standings.
