Ranked No. 1 and No. 4 in this week’s Top 25 high school basketball rankings, Columbus (Miami, Fla.) and Perry (Gilbert, Ariz.) have made history by winning their fourth consecutive state championships in the highest classification of their respective states, marking them as the 53rd and 54th teams to achieve this feat.
Koa Peat demonstrated remarkable resilience by playing through a broken shooting hand during both the state semifinals and the title game, leading Perry with a team-high 20 points in a 63-44 victory against Sunnyslope (Phoenix) in Arizona’s Open Division championship.
Cameron Boozer led Columbus with 20 points and nine rebounds as they dominated Windermere, running the clock in both the third and fourth quarters during the blowout win.
In Texas, a couple of surprises unfolded as previously ranked No. 4 Brennan (San Antonio) and No. 8 Allen fell in the state semifinals, while the newly ranked No. 15 Duncanville claimed its third state championship since 2019.
Over in California, Roosevelt (Eastvale) surged to No. 2 in the rankings after defeating the previous No. 2, Harvard-Westlake (Studio City), with a 71-59 score in the Open Division quarterfinals. Meanwhile, No. 11 Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) triumphed over previous No. 13 St. Joseph (Santa Maria) with a close 66-64 win in another SoCal quarterfinal battle.
In Georgia, Wheeler (Marietta) snatched the Class AAAAAA state title by overcoming Newton (Covington) in a thrilling championship matchup.
