Spencer Dinwiddie notches 24 points as the Brooklyn Nets, the host team, achieve an NBA season-high of 25 3-pointers, turning around a 21-point deficit to secure a 118-109 win over the faltering Chicago Bulls on Sunday night.

The Nets fell behind by the first 13 points of the game and were trailing 30-9 with 4:37 remaining in the first quarter. However, Brooklyn staged an impressive comeback, outscoring the Bulls 109-79 for the remainder of the game and 99-73 over the final three quarters.

Brooklyn came close to their team record of 27, achieved on February 15, 2021, in Sacramento, and set a franchise record for 3-pointers in a home game. The Nets also fell just four short of the NBA record set by Milwaukee on December 29, 2020.

Royce O’Neale and Lonnie Walker IV both contributed 20 points. Together, they shot 12-of-20 from 3-point range, helping the Nets to achieve 20 of their 3-pointers after the first quarter.

Mikael Bridges added 15 points, including the crucial basket that gave the Nets the lead at 44-41 with about 5 1/2 minutes left in the second quarter. Trendon Watford contributed 11 points, and Cameron Johnson finished with 10 before leaving the game due to cramping in his leg.

DeMar DeRozan was the highest scorer with 27 points, but the Bulls suffered their fourth consecutive loss and their seventh defeat in eight games. Coby White added 23 points, while Patrick Williams and Zach LaVine contributed 20 points each. The Bulls made 13 of their first 21 shots and eight 3-pointers in the opening quarter, finishing at 48.2 percent overall.

The Bulls also surrendered the most 3-pointers in team history, surpassing the 24 allowed to the Warriors in October 2018 and the Nets in April 2018.

The Nets outscored the Bulls 44-19 in the second quarter, hitting 11 3-pointers and holding a 63-55 lead at halftime. A 3-pointer and a dunk from a turnover by O’Neale put Brooklyn up 72-57 in less than two minutes into the third quarter.

The Bulls responded with a 15-5 run, narrowing the gap to 77-72 with two free throws from LaVine with 5:55 remaining before Brooklyn made four 3-pointers in the rest of the quarter, establishing a 96-83 lead.

Finney-Smith made the 23rd 3-pointer for Brooklyn, setting the home record with 8:50 left, and extending the lead to 102-89. The lead increased to 113-97 with a basket by Bridges about four minutes later, effectively sealing the win.
