Exceptional athleticism and teamwork were on full display across Oregon high schools this past week.
From record-breaking feats on the track to flawless performances in golf tournaments, these athletes have made their mark with memorable efforts. Their dedication, skill, and perseverance serve as a testament to the thriving sports culture in Oregon.
Bandon boys golf
The Tigers celebrated success at the Eugene Country Club Invitational, finishing with a score of 296 strokes, leaving Grants Pass in second with 312. Sophomore Sevren Quinn shot a 70, tying for medalist honors to lead Bandon.
Beaverton girls track and field
The Beavers narrowly won the team title at the Therapeutic Associates Chehalem Classic, held at Newberg High School, with a score of 94 points, just one point ahead of Wells. Junior Bailey Shields excelled with a shot put throw of 40 feet, 10 inches, while senior Alison Pace had a first-place throw of 124-1 in javelin, leading the Beavers.
Blanchet Catholic baseball
The Cavaliers maintained their undefeated streak, moving to 14-0 after dominating Willamina with a 24-0 score, followed by a 10-0 triumph against St. Helens. Senior outfielder Tyson Smith went 3 for 3 at the plate, hitting a home run and contributing three runs and two RBIs in the victory over the Lions.
Cascade boys tennis
The Cougars executed a clean sweep against Philomath with an 8-0 victory in their Oregon West Conference match at Cascade High School. Andrew Suelzle recorded a 6-0, 6-4 win in No. 1 singles, while the Cascade duo of Brady Santibanez-Walling and Maximilian Wilson secured a 6-0, 6-1 win in No. 1 doubles.
Clackamas girls golf
Triumphing at the Mt. Hood Conference tournament held at Greenlea Golf Course, the Cavaliers posted a round of 321 strokes. Nelson followed in second with 343. Sophomore Jessi Tantog captured the tourney medalist title with a commendable 1-over-par round of 63.
Crater girls track and field
The Comets soared to victory at the Fourth-annual Phoenix Invitational at Phoenix High School, scoring 139 points, well ahead of Klamath Union, which scored 94. Junior Kamdyn Johnson sprinted to first place in both the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 26.12 seconds, and the 400 meters, finishing in 59.93 seconds.
Crook County boys track and field
The Cowboys shone at the 23rd Prefontaine Rotary Invitational held at Marshfield High School, finishing first with a score of 178 points. Marshfield came in second with 118. Senior Eli Oelkers had a standout performance, winning the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.25 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 39.85, along with an impressive long jump of 22 feet, 7 inches.
David Douglas girls track and field
The Scots captured the team title at the Laker Classic held at Lake Oswego High School with a total of 117 points, just edging out second-place McMinnville’s 113. Senior Khloe Huskic excelled in the long jump, reaching a distance of 16 feet, 6 inches, and also triumphed in the triple jump, landing at 35-8.
Glencoe boys golf
The Crimson Tide continued their impressive season by winning the 6A/5A Preview tournament at the OGA Golf Course in Woodburn with a score of 306 strokes, leaving Summit in second with 322. Senior Brody Landaker tied for second in individual standings with a round of 72, providing key support for Glencoe.
Henley boys track and field
The Hornets had a fantastic showing at the Fourth-annual Phoenix Invitational, taking home first place with a score of 135 points, while Eagle Point finished second with 84.5. Junior Joseph Janney clinched victory in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.96 seconds and placed second in the 100 meters at 10.82, bolstering the Hornets’ team effort.
Hood River Valley softball
The Eagles soared at the start of Northwest Oregon Conference play, sweeping Parkrose with scores of 17-1 and 18-0, and achieving a 13-3 victory over Putnam. Hood River Valley, currently on a seven-game winning streak, improved their season record to 11-2 with these three conference wins.
Junction City boys golf
The Tigers seized victory at the Marshfield Invitational hosted at Shadow Hills Country Club, finishing first among 13 teams with a score of 362 strokes, narrowly ahead of North Bend at 364. Connor Gibson tied for second in the individual standings with a round of 85, leading the charge for the Tigers.
Lake Oswego boys golf
The Lakers secured first place at the Three Rivers League tournament held at Stone Creek Golf Club, finishing with a total of 294 strokes. Tigard followed in second place with a score of 301. Junior Drew Woolworth earned the title of tourney medalist, shooting an impressive 65, leading the charge for Lake Oswego.
Madras boys track and field
The White Buffaloes showcased their strength by winning the La Pine Invitational, held at La Pine High School. Madras finished at the top with a score of 161 points, while Summit came in second with 83. Senior George Roberts excelled, not only winning the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 10.40 seconds but also the 1,500 in 4:19.23, driving the White Buffaloes to victory.
McDaniel baseball
The Mountain Lions kicked off their Portland Interscholastic League season with a two-game sweep over Franklin, winning 9-6 and 12-10. Senior Owen Sonne had a standout performance, going 3 for 4 at the plate, with two doubles, a triple, six RBIs, and drawing six walks during the series. McDaniel now boasts a record of 9-4.
Oregon City boys track and field
The Pioneers triumphed at the Willamette Falls Invitational hosted at Oregon City High School. The home team finished first among 22 teams, scoring 126 points, while Scappoose placed second with 75.5. Keaton Moore sprinted to victory in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.75 seconds and was a key contributor on the winning 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams.
Ridgeview softball
The Ravens remain undefeated this season, improving to 12-0 by securing three victories in Intermountain Conference play. They claimed wins against Summit (13-0), Caldera (10-9), and Bend (8-1). Sophomore pitcher Brezlyn Hagemeister was instrumental, earning all three wins while racking up six hits, including a home run, and driving in seven RBIs throughout the week.
Roseburg boys tennis
The Indians achieved a dominant 7-1 victory over North Medford during a Southwest Conference dual match at the Umpqua Valley Tennis Center. Ramin Abrahime secured a strong 6-0, 6-2 win in No. 1 singles. Additionally, the No. 1 doubles pair, Davide Falleni and Ryder Sullivan, delivered a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Sherwood boys track and field
The Bowmen emerged victorious at the Therapeutic Associates Chehalem Classic hosted at Newberg High School. Sherwood took first place with a score of 76.33 points, edging out Wells, which had 73. Senior Wilson Medina claimed victory in the 100-meter dash, fellow senior Andrew Waletich won the 400, and senior Dylan Weniger triumphed in the 1,500, bolstering the Bowmen’s success.
Silverton boys track and field
The Foxes secured first place at the Laker Classic, held at Lake Oswego High School, finishing with a score of 142.5 points. South Eugene followed in second with 92 points. Senior Tristan Keopadapsy impressed by clearing 6 feet, 4 inches to win the high jump and achieving a winning distance of 43-4 in the triple jump, leading the Foxes to their triumph.
Sisters girls track and field
The Outlaws narrowly edged past Madras with a score of 126 points to take first place at the La Pine Invitational, hosted at La Pine High School, where Madras scored 122. Freshman Nona Smith won both the 200-meter dash and the 400, while senior Emily Picard topped both the 1,500 and the 3,000, fueling the Outlaws’ victory.
South Salem baseball
The Saxons continued their undefeated streak, now 13-0, by sweeping McNary with scores of 19-0, 11-0, and 25-4 in a three-game Central Valley Conference series. Senior Kevin Semm contributed significantly, going 5 for 10 at the plate with a grand slam, scoring five runs and driving in 10 RBIs.
Sunset girls golf
The Apollos achieved triumph at two Metro League tournaments. They initially secured the top spot at a league tournament at Meriwether National Golf Club in Hillsboro, scoring 340 strokes, and followed with another win at Chehalem Glenn in Newberg, where they shot a 331.
Thurston baseball
The Colts completed a three-game sweep against North Eugene, with victories of 6-0 (featuring Grady Saunders’ no-hit performance), 7-2, and 8-1. With these wins, Thurston is on a hot six-game winning streak, improving to 6-0 in league play and 12-2 overall.
Tigard softball
The Tigers began Three Rivers League play with two wins, defeating Lake Oswego 8-1 and Oregon City 2-0 at home. These victories brought Tigard’s season record to 6-7.
Vale girls track and field
The Vikings stood out at the Cove Charter School 1A-2A-3A Regional Invitational held at Eastern Oregon University, taking first place with a total score of 124.75 points. Imbler followed in second with 102.5. Junior Claire Johnson succeeded in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.17 seconds, also winning the 100 high hurdles in 16.69, bolstering the Vikings’ lead.
West Salem girls track and field
The Titans emerged victorious at the Titan Track Classic, held at West Salem High School, scoring a total of 109 points for the win. Lebanon finished in second place with 92. Junior Mia Rasca claimed victory in the 1,500-meter run, clocking in at 4 minutes, 43.93 seconds, contributing to the Titans’ team title.
Wilsonville girls golf
The Wildcats captured first place at the Northwest Oregon Conference tournament, held at Charbonneau Golf Club, shooting a 15-over-par total of 271 strokes. Canby came in second with a score of 355. Evie Dunn and Layla Sidhu each shot even-par rounds of 64 to share the medalist honors and lead Wilsonville.
Yamhill-Carlton softball
The Tigers excelled with a perfect 3-0 week, winning decisively against Taft (9-0), edging Banks (4-3), and defeating Amity (16-1). Junior Taylor Bradfield was a standout, pitching all three games and recording a perfect game against Taft while striking out 17 batters. Yamhill-Carlton is now on a seven-game winning streak, holding a record of 5-1 in Class 3A Special District 3 play and 7-5 overall.
