(Statistics are accurate as of April 14, 2025.)

Texas High School Softball Top Pitchers of 2025

Haylee Allen, fr., Fairfield

Fairfield’s Eagles must feel confident having a top-tier freshman like Allen on their team. This season, she has proven herself as a versatile player, appearing in 15 varsity games with a record of 10-3 and an impressive 0.79 ERA. She has struck out 140 of the 314 batters she has faced, with just 15 walks in 79.2 innings pitched. Moreover, she has contributed offensively, boasting a batting average of .327, with six doubles, one triple, and four home runs.

Regina Amaya, soph., Tomball

Amaya has experienced a remarkable improvement this season. After finishing her freshman year with a 3-1 record and a 5.78 ERA in 26 games, she currently sports a perfect 6-0 record along with a much lower ERA of 1.53. So far, she has fanned 122 batters while allowing 30 walks and scattering 57 hits over 91.2 innings.

Macie Bryant, soph., Mt. Belvieu Barbers Hill

Texas is brimming with exceptional sophomore pitchers, and Bryant stands out as one of the elite. Despite her remarkable talent, she’s often absent from leaderboards because her team’s high-powered offense scores runs with such frequency. This season, she has given up only 26 hits in 58.2 innings and allowed just four runs. The game frequently ends early due to mercy rules while she’s on the mound. Having pitched in 19 games, she has only gone beyond five innings seven times. She remains undefeated at 17-0 with a 0.62 ERA, 158 strikeouts, and 21 walks, along with eight no-hitters.

Saylor Bures, soph., Ganado

Bures is among the finest sophomores in the state. Following a stellar freshman year with 144 strikeouts in 131.1 innings, she has further improved in 2025, tallying 139 strikeouts in just 95 innings pitched. With a 1.69 ERA over 22 appearances, she has kept her walks to a minimum with only 25.

Meredith Cavazos, sr., Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial

While Cavazos might not accumulate strikeouts at the same rate as her peers in this compilation, her effectiveness is undeniable. She consistently delivers results through precise pitching and a strategic approach that keeps batters guessing. This season, she has participated in 18 games, achieving a 15-1 record with a 1.26 ERA. Over 83.1 innings, she has allowed 65 hits, collected 74 strikeouts, and issued 15 walks. In her career, she has an impressive 39-6 record with a 1.81 ERA, 193 strikeouts, and just 39 walks in 236.1 innings.

Karli Challburg, sr., Houston Langham Creek

Following a promising junior year in which she finished with a 17-4 record and a 1.86 ERA over 120.1 innings, along with 146 strikeouts, 27 walks, and 82 hits allowed, Challburg has surpassed those impressive numbers in her senior year. We’re currently well into the season, and it’s an ideal time to compare her ongoing stats in what has been a remarkable year for her.

120.1 innings again this year. Currently, she holds a record of 21-3 with a remarkable 1.11 ERA, achieving 201 strikeouts while issuing just 18 walks, allowing 56 hits and 29 runs (19 earned) over 24 appearances.

Mya Cherry, sr., Aubrey

Although she has showcased her talents at the plate this season with a .405 batting average, featuring nine doubles, three triples, and five home runs, Cherry’s prowess on the mound has been even more impressive. Her season statistics can stand alongside the best in the country, boasting a record of 16-1 and an outstanding 0.65 ERA. In 17 starts, she has completed 14 games, including six shutouts and two perfect games. Over 86 innings, Cherry has tallied 169 strikeouts, allowing 25 walks, 48 hits, and just eight earned runs.

Kaylee Czaplicki, soph., Killeen Shoemaker

After seeing action in 32 games last year and coming away with nine wins as a freshman, Czaplicki is surpassing her previous performance in her sophomore season. She’s currently 13-2 with a 1.34 ERA, and in 18 appearances, she has logged 83.2 innings, permitting 58 hits and 16 earned runs while striking out 106 and walking 22.

Chloe Ellis, sr., Georgetown Gateway College Prep

With a strikeout rate of 56 percent and minimal walks allowed, it’s no surprise that Chloe Ellis is frequently on the mound. She ranks among the toughest pitchers in the state, showcasing a 0.84 ERA, 245 strikeouts, and only 18 walks over 118 innings across 21 games. Ellis has allowed just 53 hits and only 16 earned runs.

Emma Escamilla, soph., Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North

Emma Escamilla is among the few sophomores across the country having a season as impressive. Not only is she recognized as one of the state’s elite infielders, boasting a .701 batting average in 24 games with 15 doubles, four triples, a home run, and 27 RBI, but she has also emerged as a stellar pitcher. In 15 appearances, including 11 starts, Escamilla is 10-0 with a 1.04 ERA, securing 137 strikeouts while walking only 16 batters over 74 innings, during which she has closed out six games and logged two saves.

As she approaches the final stages of her high school journey, she maintains an 8-1 record and a 1.69 ERA, along with 105 strikeouts and just 28 walks across 74.2 innings.

Whitney Foster, sr., Dallas White

In her 13 games this season, Foster has posted a batting average of .676 with five home runs and has gone 10-0 with a 0.52 ERA on the mound. While her innings pitched (40.1) are fewer than many others highlighted, her performance is undeniable. She hasn’t had an ERA above 1.92 since her freshman year when she finished 12-6 with a 3.24 ERA. Last year, she started 17 of 20 games pitched and concluded with an 18-2 record and a 1.73 ERA. In a career spanning 81 appearances in the circle, Foster has amassed a 55-13 record with a 2.03 ERA, 489 strikeouts, and 89 walks in 289 innings.

Isabella Garcia, sr., Troy

Garcia is a player who appears to make the game effortless. After collecting 34 strikeouts across four appearances totaling 16 innings last year, the senior has firmly established her dominance in the circle this season. With 16 appearances over 73.2 innings, Garcia boasts an outstanding 0.48 ERA—the lowest in the state for pitchers with at least 50 innings pitched—while amassing 124 strikeouts and walking just 17. She also contributes significantly at bat, hitting .574 with 10 home runs and only two strikeouts.

Bianca Gonzales, sr., Corpus Christi Calallen

When Bianca Gonzales occupies the mound, your chances of securing a win are quite slim. While she may not be predominantly a strikeout artist, her skill lies in precision and effective technique. Gonzales has maintained an unblemished 12-0 record this year with a 1.40 ERA across 17 appearances, striking out 73 batters and allowing just 27 walks and 49 hits. Over the past two seasons, she has compiled a combined record of 24-1 and a 1.90 ERA in 33 appearances, with 138 strikeouts and 27 walks over 136.2 innings.

Jessica Hinnant, fr., Smithville

Hinnant is a freshman who has made a significant impact. Taking on responsibility as a key player for Smithville, she has participated in 21 games, achieving a remarkable 13-2 record with a 0.80 ERA. Hooker shines not only at the plate, but also in the circle; she has pitched in 17 games, boasting a 15-2 record with a remarkable 0.87 ERA and 70 strikeouts over 64.1 innings. Combining her performance over the past two seasons, she holds an impressive 35-3 record across 44 appearances with a 1.47 ERA and 215 strikeouts in 171 innings pitched.

Isabelle Hooper, jr., Shepard

For those who appreciate free strikeouts, Hooper is ready to oblige. The junior lefty has been sending plenty of batters back to the dugout without any hits this season. Through 124.2 innings, Hooper has collected 248 strikeouts while issuing just 40 walks, holding an 18-5 record and a 1.80 ERA with two saves across 26 outings.

The next time Eloisa Maes finds herself as the losing pitcher in a varsity softball game will be the first. Widely regarded as possibly the best sophomore in the nation and undeniably among the top pitchers in the state, Maes has seen an extraordinary start to her varsity journey. After finishing her freshman year with a perfect 9-0 record and a 1.29 ERA, she has stepped up even further in her second year. Currently, Maes boasts an astonishing 20-0 record with a 0.99 ERA, holding opponents to a mere .115 batting average in 22 games. Out of the 309 batters faced, she has struck out 150, and in 85 innings, she has permitted only 33 hits and walked 16. Through her 50-game career, Maes is 29-0 with a 1.14 ERA, tallying 279 strikeouts against 38 walks in 171.2 innings.

This season, she has enhanced those statistics significantly, amassing 165 strikeouts and just 22 walks over 85 innings, while allowing only 17 earned runs and maintaining a 1.40 ERA in 15 appearances.

Lakyn Matchett, jr., Van Vleck

A multi-sport athlete excelling in volleyball at Van Vleck, Matchett has elevated her game to new heights this season. Taylor McKean, sr., Aledo

Only 27 of the 251 batters she has faced this year have successfully recorded a hit. It has been a dominating season for the senior, who has at times appeared nearly unhittable. With a 10-2 record in 15 appearances and a 1.18 ERA, McKean has struck out 142 batters while issuing 23 walks across 65.1 innings, resulting in opponents batting a mere .119 against her.

Shayne Meismer, soph., Victoria St. Joseph

Describing Meismer’s performance throughout her varsity career as dominant might be an understatement. The young right-hander has once again amazed this season following an outstanding freshman year, where she went 22-0 with a 1.48 ERA, collecting 211 strikeouts and only 25 walks in 30 appearances. Currently, in 17 appearances this year, she holds an 11-3 record with a 1.00 ERA, achieving 157 strikeouts and issuing just 10 walks in 84 innings.

Moreaux has emerged as a critical contributor on a Broncos team that boasts a 22-5 record this season. With a remarkable .568 batting average featuring 15 doubles, six triples, and nine home runs, she has also been one of the top pitchers in the state for the past four years. This season, Moreaux has participated in 19 games, accumulating a 6-2 record and a 1.08 ERA. In her senior year, she has recorded 165 strikeouts while walking 37 batters across 97 innings.

Maddy Munoz, fr., Midland Christian

With the poise and skill of a seasoned player, it’s hard to believe that Munoz is merely a freshman. Her excellent control is evident as she has allowed only 13 walks in 102.1 innings while achieving 157 strikeouts.

With four no-hitters under her belt, she has recorded 185 strikeouts while allowing only 27 walks, 28 hits, and 10 runs (five of which are earned) across 70.2 innings.

In her 11 outings this season, she boasts a record of 6-3 and an impressive 0.87 ERA, accumulating 71 strikeouts while allowing only six earned runs over 48.1 innings.

Ainsley Parr, soph., Childress

In Texas, she leads by a margin of 19 strikeouts (with Rylee Spivey at 249) and has notched 268 strikeouts against just 47 walks in 126.2 innings over the span of 24 games. With 22 starts in the circle, her record stands at 13-10 accompanied by a 1.77 ERA, conceding 32 earned runs on 86 hits, featuring 21 complete games, two perfect games, and two no-hitters.

This year, Rodriguez holds a 12-4 record across 24 appearances with a 1.92 ERA and has tallied 173 strikeouts.

Lexi Sandoval, sr., Harlingen South

While Sandoval may not have logged as many games as some of her peers here, she has been dominating in every aspect when she’s been on the field. With five shutouts, three no-hitters, and one perfect game under her belt, she’s made a significant mark this year.

Jordyn Thibodeaux, jr., Corpus Christi Calallen

For the average player, a sub-1.00 ERA after 88 innings would signal an incredible season. However, Jordyn Thibodeaux defies the norm. After finishing her sophomore year with a record of 20-1 and a 0.93 ERA in 27 games, she currently stands at 9-4 with a 0.95 ERA across 20 games this year. In just 88 innings, she has already notched 172 strikeouts while permitting 41 hits, 24 walks, and 12 earned runs.
