It’s no shocker that the undefeated Calvary Baptist claims the top spot. See the complete list below.

1. Calvary Baptist (25-0)

Power rating: No. 1 (Division III select)

The Cavaliers boast seven players with 60 or more at-bats hitting .422 or better. Leading the charge are freshman Baylor Bockhaus (.598, 19 home runs), sophomore Mallory Carver (.500, 10 HRs), and junior pitcher Kynzee Anderson (.469, 12 HRs), who’s 16-0 in the circle with a 1.11 ERA. Senior Addison Willis is also impressive with a 7-0 record and a 1.39 ERA.

2. Sam Houston (19-2)

Power rating: No. 1 (Division I nonselect)

The Broncos have managed to score in double digits in nine of their past ten games, with their only other game resulting in nine runs. They’ve also recently secured run-rule victories against St. Amant and Southside, highlighted by Aubrey Portie’s three-run homer in a 12-1 victory over St. Amant, where Kailyn Mire delivered a stellar two-hitter over five innings.

3. Pineville (19-2)

Power rating: No. 1 (Division I select)

Madalyn Halle is excelling with a .492 batting average, 14 home runs, five doubles, and 41 RBIs. Cassidy Sicuro follows closely with a .552 average and an impressive 15 doubles. Addalyn Burch and Chelsie Simpson have collectively pitched over 100 innings, maintaining ERAs below 2.30, while the Rebels’ only losses came against Alexandria and West Ouachita.

4. North DeSoto (20-2)

Power rating: No. 1 (Division II nonselect)

The Griffins are riding high with 18 consecutive wins since defeats to Ouachita Parish and St. Frederick, including notable victories against Benton (twice), Mount Carmel, and Sterlington. North DeSoto, set to travel up north to Shreveport to face Calvary Baptist on March 27, recently triumphed over Benton with an 8-5 score thanks to winning pitcher Avery McCloskey and standout hitter Raegan Henderson.

5. Alexandria (18-4)

Power rating: No. 2 (Division I select)

Sophomore Amiyah Wilson has shined with a .444 batting average and eight home runs. Senior Sarah Grace Buckels leads the team with a .448 average and two HRs, while senior Mary Claire Brinkman contributes with a .419 average, four HRs, and eight stolen bases. Sophomore Ella Melder’s remarkable performance includes 92 strikeouts across 62.2 innings and a 2.12 ERA. ASH has secured 10 wins out of their last 11 games, with their sole loss coming against Sterlington.

6. Notre Dame (18-0)

Power rating: No. 2 (Division III select)

In their first 14 games, a cohort of five Pioneers achieved 22 home runs, as reported by Eric Narcisse of The Acadiana Advocate. McNeese State signee Malayna Daigle displayed impressive stats with a .568 average, while junior Valerie Brown boasts a .618 average. Primary pitchers Madaline Johnson and Bella Smith have also contributed significantly. Recently, Notre Dame belted nine home runs across two games, with freshman Kenley Sonnier going an impressive 6-for-7, including a homer.

7. Vandebilt Catholic (18-2)

Power rating: No. 1 (Division II select)

The Terriers have achieved victories over key opponents including Assumption, Hahnville, E.D. White, East Ascension, and Live Oak. Kallie Waalk had a notable performance with three hits, featuring a double and home run, in the 16-6 win against Hahnville, supported by winning pitcher Lauren Baudoin. Teammates Hayes Rutledge and Lexi Matherne also made an impact with home runs. Vandebilt Catholic’s only losses were by a mere three runs to Lutcher and Iowa.

8. St. Thomas More (16-4)

Power rating: No. 3 (Division I select)

The senior-heavy Cougars have clinched 11 victories out of their last 12 matchups, only losing to Walker. Their recent three-game sweep resulted in a staggering total score of 41-2. In a 15-0 dominance over Teurlings Catholic, Addison Lafferty went 4-for-4, while Shyanne Irvin and Emma Bailey each tallied three hits. Margaret Oge delivered a strong pitching performance, allowing just six hits while striking out four.

9. Kaplan (18-2)

Power rating: No. 2 (Division III nonselect)

The Pirates have strung together 12 consecutive victories following two setbacks to Class 5A competitors Southside and Sam Houston. Kaplan has outscored 10 of their opponents. In their latest outing on March 26, Lexi Greene struck out 10 in a convincing 9-1 win over Class 5A Ponchatoula. Five Pirates contributed with two hits apiece, led by Addyson Hebert who recorded two doubles.

10. Jena (15-5)

Power rating: No. 3 (Division III nonselect)

The Giants bounced back impressively after defeats to Calvary Baptist and a 16-4 loss to Benton, securing victories over Claiborne Christian and Quitman. Junior Kiette Cooper, who excels both at the plate and on the mound, is batting an impressive .354 while also carrying a 1.54 ERA with 196 strikeouts over 95.1 innings pitched.

11. Assumption (20-3)

Power rating: No. 4 (Division II nonselect)

The Mustangs experienced narrow defeats to Jena, East Ascension, and Vandebilt Catholic, losing by a combined total of five runs. Assumption has notable wins against St. Amant, Central-BR, John Curtis, Hahnville, and E.D. White. Londyn Pennison excelled with a complete game featuring 10 strikeouts in a win over North Vermilion, complemented by Livie Thibodaux’s three-hit performance, including two doubles.

12. St. Amant (17-6)

Power rating: No. 3 (Division I nonselect)

The Gators had their five-game winning streak halted by Sam Houston on March 26, suffering a 12-1 defeat. St. Amant recently clinched victories against Quitman, Airline, Destrehan, and Walker, with Hailey Hebert shining in a complete game performance, yielding just five hits in a narrow 2-1 win over Quitman and ace pitcher Cali Deal. Olivia Johnson contributed with a solo homer.

13. Walker (14-4)

Power rating: No. 4 (Division I nonselect)

The Wildcats are on a roll, winning 10 of their last 12 games with setbacks against St. Amant and Archbishop Chapelle. Their winning streak also includes victories over St. Charles, Live Oak, St. Thomas More, Dutchtown, Brusly, and Archbishop Hannan. Sophomore Alexis Pitre continues to impress on the field. Earlier this month, a standout athlete posted the following impressive stats, as reported by The Baton Rouge Advocate: (3-1 record in the circle with 20.2 innings pitched, 28 strikeouts, and allowing four earned runs. At the plate, she hit .479 with three home runs, including two grand slams, and drove in 13 RBIs.)

14. Pine Prairie (19-2)

Power rating: No. 1 (Division III nonselect)

The Panthers faced a narrow defeat by just one run this week against Iowa, marking their second loss after falling to Pineville. Pine Prairie boasts wins over Alexandria, Acadiana, Iota, Hicks, Destrehan, Oakdale, Tioga, and Lakeside, with Kynnedi Ware leading as their pitcher, posting a 1.93 ERA and accumulating 202 strikeouts over 114.2 innings.

15. Brusly (16-3)

Power rating: No. 3 (Division II nonselect)

The Panthers are currently on a 13-game winning streak following a 4-2 loss to Pine Prairie, with recent victories against Cedar Creek, Buckeye, Dutchtown, and Central-BR. In a standout performance, Amelia Meador recorded four RBIs during a 15-0 triumph over University Lab, while Abigail Heidbrink delivered a stellar one-hitter over three innings.

16. Lutcher (14-7)

Power rating: No. 6 (Division II nonselect)

The Bulldogs have managed to secure eight wins in their last 10 games, notching victories over teams like Vandebilt Catholic, Mount Carmel, St. Amant, and Opelousas Catholic. Blair Clement was a standout, striking out 14 batters over eight innings and only allowing two hits in their district win against Vandebilt Catholic. Kelsie Riley contributed to the offense with a two-run homer.

17. Mount Carmel (13-4)

The Cubs are navigating through a tough patch, having lost three out of their last seven games. Nevertheless, they remain a formidable team with recent wins against Walker, John Curtis Christian, Chalmette, Hahnville, and Dominican. Key player Avery Killian, a committed athlete to Florida, along with pitcher Paige Reuther and shortstop Hayden Traub, are ones to keep an eye on.

18. John Curtis Christian (15-4)

Power rating: No. 4 (Division I select)

The Patriots are enjoying a nine-game winning streak following a previous loss to Mount Carmel. Their earlier defeats include St. Thomas More, Kaplan, and Assumption. Miley Percle notably hit an inside-the-park home run during a tightly contested 1-0 victory against Archbishop Chapelle, while Makayla Escude delivered a complete game shutout.

19. LaSalle Parish (20-3)

Power rating: No. 1 (Division IV nonselect)

The Tigers have recently secured impressive wins over Logansport, Quitman, and Tioga. With a batting average of .446, the team has accumulated 21 home runs and scored over 250 runs, according to Greg Jones of The Jena Times. Rheese Martin and Landry Long are the mainstay pitchers for a staff that holds a 1.87 ERA.

20. Quitman (13-4)

The Wolverines have faced challenges, losing three of their last five contests against Jena, St. Amant, and LaSalle by a close total of just six runs. Cali Deal has found solid support in the circle from freshman Brenna Lamkin, who impressed with 14 strikeouts during a win over Zwolle. Quitman has also celebrated victories against Stanley and Benton.

21. Benton (16-4)

Power rating: No. 2 (Division I nonselect)

The Tigers recently experienced two narrow losses by a mere four runs to Buckeye and North DeSoto, a team that has already defeated Benton twice. Additionally, Benton’s other loss came at the hands of Quitman. In a standout game, Audrey Stark achieved two home runs during a 6-4 victory over Doyle and also led the team to a win against Jena.

22. Hahnville (18-6)

Power rating: No. 6 (Division I nonselect)

The Tigers have claimed six victories over their last seven games, with the exception of a loss to Vandebilt Catholic. Brazzi Jacob showcased her power with a home run in a 13-3 win over Houma Christian, while Emersen Tregre took credit for the win on the mound. Hahnville started the season strong with a 10-0 record but has since faced four losses by a combined six runs.

23. Iota (16-3)

Power rating: No. 2 (Division II nonselect)

Addison Cormier is making headlines with a batting average of .446, accompanied by seven doubles, 10 home runs, and 29 RBIs for the Bulldogs. Their losses this season are attributed to Alexandria, St. Thomas More, and a narrow district match against Pine Prairie, ending in a 1-0 scoreline.

24. Sterlington (9-5)

Power rating: No. 5 (Division III nonselect)

The Panthers are poised to make a move up the rankings as their basketball players return, following a successful state tournament campaign. Key players Ava West, Evie West, Alexa Blackwell, and Allie Chrislip are anticipated to shine. Chrislip delivered an outstanding five-hit shutout, striking out 13 batters in a 7-0 victory over Alexandria.

25. Doyle (14-6)

Power rating: No. 6 (Division III nonselect)

The same optimistic outlook can be extended to Doyle, akin to Sterlington’s situation. The Tigers have secured six wins from their previous seven games, with the only hiccup being a two-run loss to Benton. Doyle has a list of victories that includes Catholic P.C., East Ascension, and a resounding 19-3 win over Jewel Sumner, where Shelby Taylor shined with four hits, including two doubles. Kylee Savant also contributed with a solo home run.

    2026 Englewood Cherry Creek DL offer Tufanua Umu-Cais

    Englewood (Colo.) Cherry Creek defensive lineman Tufanua Ionatana Umu-Cais has received an invitation to participate in the 2026 Polynesian Bowl, as announced on Tuesday.

    The standout player from Colorado expressed his excitement about this honor.

    “Being selected to the Polynesian Bowl is a huge honor,” stated Umu-Cais. “It’s a recognition of all the hard work, dedication, and sacrifices I’ve made, and it means even more knowing how much pride and history are connected to the game. I have seen many players in the Poly Bowl and even players that are in the league now. It is truly special to be a part of something like that.”

    Umu-Cais is eager to immerse himself in the experience in Hawaii.

    “I’m extremely excited,” he said. “The Polynesian culture is so rich, full of pride, family, and tradition. I’m looking forward to learning more, meeting new people, and embracing everything the experience has to offer. I am extremely excited to immerse myself in the Poly community because it’s my culture. I can’t wait to really put on for my family as well as my community.”

    This will mark his first visit to the Aloha State.

    “I haven’t been to Hawaii yet, so this will be my first time,” Umu-Cais shared. “I’m really looking forward to it—the beauty, the culture, and the experience of a lifetime.”

    Additionally, Umu-Cais is enthusiastic about the opportunity to compete alongside some of the nation’s top talents.

    “I do not know the roster yet and what players are going to be attending, but I look forward to meeting them and also competing,” he noted.

    The roster for the 2026 Polynesian Bowl includes early invitees such as Immanuel Iheanacho, Faizon Brandon, DJ Jacobs, Myson Johnson-Cook, Brandon Arrington, Chris Henry Jr., Kendre Harrison, Cederian Morgan, Honor Fa’alave-Johnson, Xavier Griffin, Kelsey Adams, Jamier Brown, George Toia, and Jett Washington.

    The 2027 Polynesian Bowl will feature early invites including Elijah Haven, Trent Seaborn, and Marcus Fakatou.

    Launched in 2017, the Polynesian Bowl saw its first Offensive MVP awarded to former Stanford all-purpose back Connor Wedington, while Buffalo Bills defensive lineman A.J. Epenesa earned the Defensive MVP. The following year, Kyler Gordon from the Chicago Bears and Tanner McKee from the Philadelphia Eagles were named Co-MVPs.

    The 2019 contest awarded co-MVP honors to Daniel Heimuli, a linebacker from Arizona, and Puka Nacua of the Los Angeles Rams. In 2020, Sol-Jay Maiava, the quarterback from BYU, and Meki Pei from Hawaii won co-MVP awards.

    The 2021 edition saw Travis Hunter from Colorado take home the offensive MVP title, while Jaishawn Barham of Michigan earned defensive MVP honors. In 2023, Nico Iamaleava, a quarterback from Tennessee, was named offensive MVP, and linebacker Andrew Harris garnered defensive MVP accolades.

    The 2024 game awarded offensive MVP to Mike Matthews from Tennessee and defensive MVP to David Stone of Oklahoma. Lastly, the 2025 contest featured co-MVPs on offense in Husan Longstreet from USC and Dakorien Moore from Oregon, while 2026 defensive lineman Deuce Geralds earned the defensive MVP honor.

    The tenth Polynesian Bowl is scheduled for January 16, 2026, in Honolulu and will be broadcasted by NFL Network.

    DMV Hoop Session Interviews Suburban All Star Blake Harper

    Blake Harper, a standout freshman basketball player from Howard University, confirmed his transfer to Creighton University on Sunday through social media.

    Harper, who garnered both the MEAC Player and Rookie of the Year honors, shared his decision on Instagram @_bharp.

    “you can’t say i ain’t earn it??” he wrote. “RDJ”

    A Washington, D.C. native who previously played at Gonzaga College High School, Harper entered the transfer portal on March 24 and ultimately chose Creighton, turning down offers from LSU and Ohio State. Standing 6-foot-8, he also had the choice to return to Howard.

    Harper is set to join a Creighton team coached by Greg McDermott, who led the Bluejays to an impressive 25-11 overall record, including a 15-5 performance in the Big East Conference during the 2024-25 season. The Bluejays secured an NCAA Tournament spot and concluded the season ranked 24th in the USA Today Coaches poll.

    Throughout the 2024-25 season, Harper made an impact at Howard, starting in all 32 games and averaging 19.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists, contributing to the Bison’s 12-20 record, which included a 7-7 performance in the MEAC.

    Michigan High School Baseball Rankings: Apr. 29

    1. Bay City Western (12-1)

    Bay City Western triumphed over Flint Powers Catholic 9-0 last Thursday but faced a setback with a 4-1 loss against Midland on Monday. The Warriors are gearing up for their next games against Lapeer on May 1 and Grand Blanc on May 5.

    2. De La Salle (12-2)

    The Pilots swept Auburn Hills Avondale on Saturday, winning both games 15-0, with game one ending after four innings and game two after three. De La Salle’s next challenge comes in the form of a doubleheader against Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice on April 30.

    3. Northville (14-1)

    The Mustangs notched wins against Hartland and two over Utica last week, followed by a victory against Howell on Monday. Northville is poised for a rematch against Howell on April 30.

    4. Dakota (11-4)

    After a heavy 10-0 loss to Rochester Adams last weekend, the Cougars bounced back with decisive wins against Sterling Heights Stevenson, claiming victories of 10-0 on Monday and 14-2 on Tuesday. Dakota is slated to face Stevenson two more times to wrap up their four-game series.

    5. Birmingham Brother Rice (11-6)

    The Warriors pulled off a sweep against Detroit Edison last week (2-0) and secured a 10-6 victory over Hartland on Friday. Up next, Brother Rice will face rival De La Salle for a doubleheader on April 30.

    6. Grosse Pointe South (18-2)

    With a win over Detroit Edison on Saturday, the Blue Devils set a new school record with their 15th consecutive victory. Although they stumbled against Anchor Bat on Monday, they have a chance for revenge on April 30 and May 1.

    7. Saline (15-1)

    The Hornets swept Chelsea in two games on Saturday and achieved a similar result against Ann Arbor Huron on Monday. With a five-game winning streak, Saline is stepping into the final match of their three-game series against Ann Arbor Huron on April 30.

    8. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (10-8)

    OLSM traveled to Ohio over spring break, where they faced three games: an 8-7 defeat against Anthony Wayne, a 3-2 loss to Defiance on Saturday, and an 8-3 loss to Perrysburg later that day. The Eaglets are set to resume their Catholic League schedule on April 30 with a doubleheader against U of D Jesuit.

    9. Romeo (16-2)

    The Bulldogs are on an impressive seven-game winning streak, recently sweeping Stoney Creek on Saturday. They’ll look to maintain their momentum with a visit to Utica Ford next on May 1.

    10. Sterling Heights Stevenson (12-2)

    Stevenson is riding a three-game winning streak after defeating Anchor Bay twice on Saturday and mercying Dakota on Monday. The Titans will meet Dakota again on April 30 and May 1 before a brief pause, then face Utica Ford on May 5.

    11. Hudsonville (12-2)

    The Eagles wrapped up last week with a strong 5-1 record, including victories against Jenison and Rockford. Hudsonville is set to take on Rockford again on May 1 before hosting a doubleheader against Maple Valley the following day.

    12. Jenison (8-2)

    The Wildcats dominated Muskegon with a 15-0 win but narrowly lost to Hudsonville 9-8 last week. They split a doubleheader against Caledonia on Tuesday (W, 10-0; L, 3-2), with a rubber match scheduled for May 1.

    13. New Boston Huron (16-0)

    The Chiefs kept their unbeaten record intact last week with wins over Allen Park and Milan. They are set to play Flat Rock next on April 30 and have a matchup with Dearborn Divine Child on May 2.

    14. Detroit Catholic Central (10-6)

    The Shamrocks are currently on a four-game winning streak, most recently sweeping Portage Central on Tuesday. Up next, Detroit Catholic Central will face St. Francis de Sales in a doubleheader on April 30.

    15. West Bloomfield (8-3)

    The Lakers split a doubleheader with Rochester last week and followed that up with back-to-back wins against Groves, including an 8-1 victory on Tuesday. West Bloomfield will meet Groves once more on May 1 before taking on Stoney Creek on May 3.

    16. Dexter (13-6)

    The Dreadnaughts have struggled recently, dropping four of their last six games, including both matches in a doubleheader against Ann Arbor Skyline on Monday. They have another opportunity against Skyline on April 30 before heading to Adrian on May 3.

    17. Woodhaven (15-5)

    The Warriors have secured consecutive victories after experiencing two losses in a row, with their latest triumph coming against Dearborn Edsel Ford, winning 2-1 in a dramatic nine-inning game on Monday. Woodhaven’s upcoming opponents include Wyandotte on April 30, followed by Taylor on May 1.

    18. Rochester Adams (15-4)

    Rochester Adams holds a 2-2 record over its last four games, having recently suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Stoney Creek on Tuesday. The Highlanders have another chance to face Stoney Creek on May 2 before taking on Grosse Pointe North in a doubleheader on May 3.

    19. Trenton (13-3)

    The Trojans went 2-1 at the 9th Bob Kreszyn Classic on Saturday, achieving victories over Wayland and Flint Powers Catholic, with their only setback against Utica Ford. Additionally, Trenton triumphed over Taylor on Monday, and their next matchup is against Dearborn Edsel Ford on April 30.

    20. Midland (6-2)

    Midland upset the top-ranked team in the state, securing a 4-1 victory over Bay City Western on Monday. Despite a number of canceled games this season, the Chemics’ schedule is about to heat up, starting with a game against Davison on April 30.

    21. Pontiac Notre Dame Prep (9-5)

    Pontiac Notre Dame Prep faced a tough doubleheader against Flushing on Saturday, resulting in two losses, but bounced back on Monday with a solid 9-2 win over U of D Jesuit.

    22. Detroit Western (13-5)

    After a 12-7 win against Grosse Pointe North on Saturday, the Cowboys suffered an 8-3 loss to Grosse Pointe South later that day. However, they regained their momentum with a 5-2 victory over Cass Tech on Tuesday. Detroit Western is set to face Livonia Stevenson next on April 30.

    23. Grand Ledge (13-5)

    The Comets faced a tough defeat in a doubleheader against Okemos on Monday, breaking a four-game winning streak. Grand Ledge will aim to bounce back during a doubleheader against Lansing Everett on May 1.

    24. Mattawan (8-2-3)

    Mattawan has triumphed in four of its last five outings, although they faced a setback against Grandville, losing 4-3 on Saturday. The Wildcats will take on Gull Lake next in a doubleheader on April 30.
