Kyrie Irving’s ANTA KAI 1: Everything You Need To Know
The collaboration between ANTA, Kyrie Irving, and their joint ANTA KAI 1 model has been groundbreaking.
From March to June, #11 and the Chinese label have introduced 11 iterations of one of the most promising new designs in the market. However, due to its unique release strategy that bypasses major retailers like Foot Locker in favor of a more exclusive approach, it can be challenging to stay updated on every variant.
Below, you’ll discover a chronological breakdown of each ANTA KAI 1 model that has officially debuted, along with additional details on a few unreleased or region-specific versions that you may have come across.
Starting the series, the ANTA KAI 1 “Artist On Court” set the stage. This rendition holds significance as it marked our initial glimpse at Irving’s long-anticipated ANTA signature shoe. From the intricate embroidery on the toe-box to the hieroglyphic branding sprinkled across the shoe, the bold purple and pink hues were not the sole attention-grabbing elements.
The success of this colorway, despite its infrequent appearance, emphasizes its impact, especially outside of the GS range. With elaborate detailing, the release of the “Artist On Court” served as a blueprint for future editions, with most subsequent releases also quickly selling out.
Unless you are deeply immersed in Kyrie Irving’s footwear in 2024, chances are you haven’t encountered this version. The ANTA KAI 1 “KAIVERSE” was exclusively launched at ANTA’s Shanghai flagship store, restricted to just 323 pairs.
Despite the limited availability, the visual appeal of this edition was undeniable. Following shortly after the “Artist On Court,” the KAIVERSE subverted expectations with vibrant orange and purple accents on the midsole against a subdued grey upper.
Combining bright accents with neutral tones continues to produce standout sneakers, particularly in the realm of basketball footwear. While only a few may acquire it, the ANTA KAI 1 “KAIVERSE” ensured it left a lasting impression.
The defining feature of the ANTA KAI 1″Enlightened Warrior” is its contrasting left and right color scheme, reminiscent of motifs explored in basketball shoes such as the Nike Ja 1. Transitioning from warm pinks and oranges on one side to cool purples and greens on the other, these vibrant colors overlay a checkered black and white pattern.
This Max Headroom-esque arrangement deserves recognition for its unique departure from the preceding KAI 1 styles and hints at the experimental aesthetics we may encounter in future releases.
A must for every signature model is a team-specific colorway. Irving’s interpretation of this theme stood out, infusing the ANTA KAI 1 “Playoffs Pack” with neon touches that have become a signature of his line.
Among the duo, the “Playoffs Away” shines, featuring contrasting baby blue tones reminiscent of the successful “UNC” editions. The “Home” variant, though more understated initially, stands out with pink embroidery on the toe-box and a gradient midsole, distinguishing it from other on-court contenders.
The inevitable Mother’s Day tribute arrived for the ANTA KAI 1 “Mother’s Day”. Having explored the theme of his mother’s influence in previous Kyrie 4 & 5 “Mom” editions, released exclusively at New Jersey’s Sneaker Room, Irving retained similar sentimental details for this release.
Revisiting the Jersey City retailer for the launch, #11 incorporated a multi-color print on the sockliner and underlay panels, reflecting the colors of the Standing Rock tribe to which his mother belonged. The bead-like patterns on the midfoot strap and the “Mother” inscription in the trademark KAI hieroglyphic script add the finishing touches to a shoe that visually narrates a compelling story.
Introduced shortly after the Mavericks secured their NBA Finals berth, the ANTA KAI 1 “Playoffs Energy” aimed to capture the vibrant energy of the postseason and Irving’s notable performances in May, April, and June.
This manifested in an all-neon colorway for the pattern-rich model, sporting a dominant yellow upper accented with radioactive green details throughout. Whereas previous releases were distributed through retail partners, this iteration was exclusive to ANTA.com for direct-to-consumer sales.
The ANTA KAI 1 “Green Grails” conceptually excels in the KAI lineup, evoking the imagery of an ancient heirloom passed down through generations. The gum sole, reminiscent of SB designs, resonates with #11’s sneaker enthusiast background. In a departure from the “Playoffs Energy” palette, this version offers consumers a choice between different layouts of the bright color scheme.
Though unreleased yet, arguments can be made that the ANTA KAI 1 “Chief Hela” defines the shoe’s identity thus far. Touted for its unconventional color scheme, the model quickly transcended the sneaker community, generating buzz across the basketball landscape and even mainstream media.
Opting for a reserved two-tone palette of brown and yellow, the shoe, as seen in the image above, transforms into a moccasin-style model with leather tassels at the top. ANTA has confirmed a wide release for the KAI 1 “Chief Hela” in 2024, building anticipation unseen in recent Kyrie Irving footwear releases.
The “Triple Black” colorway, a staple in footwear, resonated strongly with our readers and the sneaker community at large. Featuring predominantly monochromatic tones, the silver accents on the midfoot strap and branding overlays added subtle yet effective details.
Released in China on June 3rd, the ANTA KAI 1 “Triple Black” is gradually rolling out across global ANTA channels at the time of writing. Anticipate its stateside release soon.
“The Garden State”
The color scheme known as “The Garden State” takes the literal meaning of New Jersey’s nickname. This particular style incorporates a naturalistic pattern beneath the mesh panels at the bottom, giving a subtle glimpse for the observant.
The sneaker embodies the best of both worlds for the KAI 1; the vibrant green hue resonates with the spirited aspect of Irving’s character and his performance but is executed in a simple manner, allowing the intricate details in the hardware to drive the narrative. With the significant influence of New Jersey on this shoe, it is improbable that it will delay its release in the US for too long. Currently, it is only available through Chinese retailers.
Variants of the ANTA KAI 1
ANTA KAI 1 “Speed”
Seen on Kyrie during the opening game of the 2024 NBA Finals, the ANTA KAI 1 Speed appears to be an enhanced version of the original model, surpassing the standard athlete-endorsed releases. With alterations to the upper, traction, and midsole, it is confirmed that Drederick Irving played a significant part in the design process.
The unveiling of the silhouette coincided with the news of Dred’s exclusive agreement with ANTA KAI, leaving uncertainty whether this is his specific signature model or if that is yet to be revealed. Details regarding the release are still pending. However, nearly all player-exclusive sneakers worn by Irving in the previous year eventually became available for the public, suggesting an imminent launch.
ANTA KAI Tribe
Introducing the latest addition to the KAI lineup, the ANTA KAI Tribe. Functioning as a lifestyle sneaker, it retains the design elements from the original ANTA KAI 1, reinterpreted as elevated, plush stripes on the toe area. The midsole maintains its defining geometric shape but is molded closer to a cupsole in this iteration.
Official Release Date for the Jordan Tatum 3 “Zen”

The Boston Celtics’ season is unfolding just as they had envisioned, with only one loss to report and a striking 30 points per game average from their star player, Jayson Tatum.
After a more eventful off-season than what championship teams typically endure, Tatum and his Boston teammates have skillfully tuned out distractions, staying focused on their goal of repeating their success early in the season. In line with this theme, the upcoming #0 Jordan Tatum 3 is about to launch a “Zen” colorway that embodies this same sense of tranquility.
The motif of serenity has been a consistent element in Jayson Tatum’s sneaker line, especially highlighted by the “Vortex” version of the Tatum 2, which explicitly connects to this theme: our previous coverage noted that the design reflects Tatum’s calm demeanor, reminiscent of the peacefulness found in a vortex above water.
While this new model opts for a more subdued color palette, its execution remains true to that original concept; the graceful cut-outs in the upper design resemble calm waters, serving as a guiding inspiration throughout Tatum’s signature collection.
As mentioned earlier, the Jordan Tatum 3 “Zen” is set to launch on November 14th via Nike.com, available in sizes for the whole family. The adult versions will be priced at $125.

Jason Kelce’s Field Goal Attempt In Timberlands Will End In A $100,000 Donation
This Saturday, November 2nd, Jason Kelce will take on a field goal challenge while wearing Wheat Timbs during the ESPN College GameDay broadcast of the highly anticipated Penn State vs. Ohio State matchup. The idea for this challenge originated when college student Daniel Villasenor successfully kicked a field goal in Vans checkerboard slip-ons, winning an impressive $100,000 earlier in October.
Initially discussed on the Kelce brothers’ New Heights podcast with special guest Pat McAfee, this lighthearted challenge quickly evolved into a real event. The NFL legend, Jason Kelce, is set to attempt scoring three points while donning the famous Wheat Timberlands.
In an exciting twist, VF Corp — the parent company of both Vans and Timberland — has stepped in with a generous $100,000 commitment to the charity Soles4Souls, aimed at supporting hurricane relief efforts. Fortunately for Jason, VF Corp has assured that the funds will be donated regardless of whether his kick is successful or not.
Make sure to tune in to ESPN College GameDay on November 2nd, 2024, to witness this unique field goal attempt for yourself!
