The authorities in China have conducted raids on Pandabuy’s warehouses, with both local and international agencies collaborating for several months to dismantle the operations of this Chinese brand.

Pandabuy acts as an intermediary by serving as a sales platform and providing services like photography and shipping for freelance sellers of Chinese-manufactured items. Consumers can browse through Pandabuy’s listings to locate the seller and product that best fit their requirements.

However, the majority of the goods are typically counterfeit.

In early April, the raid was conducted following legal actions taken by 16 brands against Pandabuy for copyright violations. Brands such as Nike, adidas, and Supreme are among the owners of the rights involved in the investigation.

Reports indicate that over 200 law enforcement officers, 50 private investigators, and local law enforcement were engaged in the operation.

Countless packages intended for international buyers were seized alongside 200,000 pairs of sneakers.

“After six months of diligent work, it was discovered that the infringing activities of Pandabuy extended to five cities in China, involving over 2,200 employees, with warehouses spanning 100,000 square meters, equivalent to nearly 20 football stadiums.”

Pandabuy, the internet retail platform accused of distributing fake merchandise, has gained popularity since 2022 through various social media channels like TikTok, Discord, and others featuring “Panda Haul” videos, in which influencers and customers present their recent purchases.

Subsequently, these influencers promote discount codes, using this marketing strategy to entice young individuals to buy imitation items from their preferred brands.

Pandabuy has surged in popularity over the last couple of years, as evidenced by a search traffic analysis demonstrating the rapid growth of Pandabuy’s search volume on Google Trends, surpassing searches for Nike’s iconic Air Force 1 Low model.

During the past year, reports suggest that Pandabuy generated approximately $5.5 billion in revenue, dealing with more than 50 million fake products.

The crackdown on counterfeit shoes remains a top priority for Pandabuy, which has now reopened its warehouses and resumed limited operations.

Nonetheless, Pandabuy has informed its clients that certain “branded” items have been disposed of.
