Contributing to the Pelicans’ win were Trey Murphy III with 14 points, Brandon Ingram with 13 points, Larry Nance Jr. with 12 points, and CJ McCollum with 11 points, as they wrapped up the season series against the Clippers with a 3-1 advantage.
The Clippers, missing James Harden due to a strained left shoulder for the second consecutive game, saw Paul George scoring 26 points, Kawhi Leonard with 23 points, and Norman Powell adding 15 points.
New Orleans took control in the third quarter as Zion Williamson notched the first 10 points for the Pelicans. Despite efforts from Leonard and Mann, the Clippers fell short, trailing by 11 points.
The Pelicans extended their lead to six before the Clippers tied the game at 71 with a 3-pointer by Powell. It was a back-and-forth battle until Williamson’s driving layup right before the quarter ended, securing an 82-80 lead for New Orleans.
Entering the fourth quarter, Williamson continued to shine, assisting Murphy’s 3-pointer and scoring a layup to widen the lead to 87-80. Marshal and Murphy also made significant contributions, pushing the Pelicans further ahead.
Despite the Clippers’ efforts to narrow the gap, Williamson, along with Ingram, managed to seal the victory for the Pelicans with crucial baskets down the stretch.
The first quarter was a low-scoring affair, ending with the Clippers holding a narrow 22-20 lead.
The Pelicans stepped up in the second quarter as Murphy and Alvarado drained 3-pointers, propelling New Orleans to a 31-26 lead. However, George and Mann’s efforts helped the Clippers regain the lead briefly.
Heading into halftime, the Pelicans managed to secure a six-point lead at 50-44 with strong contributions from Jones, Williamson, and a pair of free throws by Williamson.

The Impact of Rudy Gobert's Absence Against the Nuggets in Game 2
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.
In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.
Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.
Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
