In New York on Tuesday night, the Brooklyn Nets staged a remarkable comeback in the closing minutes to clinch a 112-107 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, led by Dorian Finney-Smith scoring 20 points, with 12 of those coming in the fourth quarter.

Securing their third win in four games, the Nets managed to erase an eight-point deficit in the final 8:45, largely due to Finney-Smith’s exceptional performance where he shot 8-of-11 overall and made all five attempts in the fourth quarter.

The crucial moments for the forward included a putback from a missed hook shot by Nic Claxton, propelling the Nets to a 101-98 lead with just 2:53 remaining, followed by a significant corner 3-pointer pushing their advantage to 106-100 with only 97 seconds left on the clock.

Dennis Schroder chipped in seven of his 20 points in the final quarter, which included a layup that extended Brooklyn’s lead to 108-103 with 23.1 seconds left on the game clock.

Adding to the mix, Lonnie Walker IV tallied 19 points and Claxton posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Nets to remain 2 1/2 games behind the 10th-seeded Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Contributions also came from Mikal Bridges with 13 points as the Nets bounced back from a 14-point second-quarter deficit, ultimately shooting 48.8% from the field.

The Nets faced challenges with Cam Thomas sidelined due to an ankle injury for the fifth consecutive game, and Cameron Johnson exiting the game in the first half with a sprained right ankle.

On the other side, Kelly Oubre Jr. shined with a season-high 30 points, aiding the Sixers who briefly took control with a 92-84 lead. However, Philadelphia succumbed to 28-15 points after Oubre’s pivotal 3-pointer, resulting in their defeat and a 6-9 record since losing Joel Embiid to knee surgery.

Facing further setbacks, the 76ers were missing Tyrese Maxey due to a mild concussion sustained in the previous game against the Dallas Mavericks, likely sidelining him for the upcoming match against the Memphis Grizzlies.

With Tobias Harris contributing 18 points and Cameron Payne adding 15, the Sixers also shot 48.8% but fell short of securing a third consecutive victory.

Philadelphia initially showed dominance by shooting 63.2% and concluding the first quarter with a 30-23 lead. However, the tides turned as Buddy Hield‘s 3-pointer early in the second quarter extended the Sixers’ lead to 38-24, triggering a reaction from Nets interim coach Kevin Ollie.

The first half ended with the Sixers maintaining a narrow 57-56 lead after being outscored 32-19 before halftime.

Brooklyn took the lead at 67-60 with 8:01 remaining in the third quarter following Schroder’s basket, but the Sixers managed to regain the lead at 83-80 going into the fourth quarter, courtesy of Walker’s buzzer-beating three-pointer after an Oubre dunk just before the break.

In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.

Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.

Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
