The defeat to the Brooklyn Nets by a score of 112-107 in New York on Tuesday is now in the past for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Less than a day later, the Sixers will be playing on their home court against the struggling Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.

Kelly Oubre Jr. was the top scorer for Philadelphia with 30 points in the match against Brooklyn. Tobias Harris, Cameron Payne, Kyle Lowry, and Buddy Hield also contributed impressively with double-digit points. Payne’s participation was uncertain due to an illness.

Despite looking poised for a third consecutive win, the 76ers were outperformed 32-24 in the final quarter.

“We made some not-so-smart plays,” Sixers coach Nick Nurse said. “We played pretty good. We just didn’t play well enough to win.”

The injury-hit Sixers are anticipated to be without Tyrese Maxey due to a concussion. Joel Embiid (knee), De’Anthony Melton (back), and Robert Covington (knee) continue to be sidelined.

Although Maxey played the whole fourth quarter in Philadelphia’s win against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, he was sidelined against the Nets.

“It was a delayed, mild concussion,” Nurse said. “I’m not a doctor, but that’s what they told me. I guess they didn’t really see the symptoms right away, and then he wakes up the next day and they’re there.”

With Maxey under the league’s concussion protocol, the timeline for his return remains uncertain.

“I would assume he’s going to be out (against the Grizzlies),” Nurse said. “We’re not rushing it. This kind of stuff, you can’t rush, you don’t rush. He’s got to meet all the steps to return to play anyway.”

Maxey received his first career All-Star selection this season.

The Grizzlies are heading to Philadelphia following a 106-102 victory over the Nets on Monday, a rare win for their injury-burdened team.

Memphis is still missing key players like Ja Morant (shoulder), Marcus Smart (finger), Desmond Bane (ankle), Derrick Rose (back), and Brandon Clarke (Achilles), while Ziaire Williams (wrist) and Yuta Watanabe (back) will be absent for their second and third consecutive games, respectively.

On a brighter note, Jaren Jackson Jr. (quad) is doubtful for the match against the Sixers.

Luke Kennard showed his best form of the season with 25 points and six 3-pointers against the Nets for the Grizzlies. Jake LaRavia and Lamar Stevens also made significant contributions to the scoring.

Kennard’s seven assists played a crucial role in stabilizing the team’s offense, especially with only nine players available for the game.

“It definitely feels good to get a game like that and on top of it to get a win,” Kennard said. “We’ve struggled the last five, six games here. We have some young guys out there. Just continuing to try to be a leader for them and just trying to make the right plays.”

“It definitely felt good to knock a few shots down as well.”

Memphis’ Taylor Jenkins achieved his 200th career victory, becoming only the second coach in franchise history, alongside Lionel Hollins, to reach this milestone. Hollins amassed 214 victories with the team from 2008-09 to 2012-13.
