Knicks Ride Third Quarter Momentum to Overwhelm Hornets

Jalen Brunson scored 32 points and Donte DiVincenzo accumulated 28 points, leading the New York Knicks to a convincing 113-92 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night.
This marked the Knicks’ season-high seventh consecutive win, despite missing one of their key players.
The Knicks had a remarkable third quarter, scoring 44 points, almost matching their entire first-half scoring. This was the third game in a row where Charlotte had given up more than 40 points in a single quarter.
New York played their first game since standout forward Julius Randle suffered a shoulder injury on Saturday afternoon.
Miles McBride contributed 11 points and Isaiah Hartenstein added 10 points in just 16 minutes for the Knicks, who made 52.4 percent of their field goal attempts. Josh Hart secured 12 rebounds in addition to scoring eight points and providing seven assists.
The Hornets suffered their third blowout loss at home in a span of four nights, despite rookie Brandon Miller‘s 29 points, which equaled his career best, and Miles Bridges‘ 21 points. Charlotte played without point guard LaMelo Ball for the second consecutive game due to ankle soreness.
P.J. Washington scored 16 points on 7-for-19 shooting in a starting role after matching a career-high total with 43 points on Saturday night against the Utah Jazz, coming off the bench.
The Knicks took turns scoring during the third quarter, with Brunson, DiVincenzo, and Hartenstein all contributing. DiVincenzo scored seven consecutive points for New York, including a 3-pointer, extending the lead to 80-58 with less than four minutes left in the third quarter.
DiVincenzo made five of the Knicks’ 12 3-pointers. Brunson made 13 of 24 shots from the field and added seven assists.
The Hornets only received seven points from their bench, with only eight players utilized as substitutes.
The Knicks were up 46-43 at halftime, with both teams displaying similar statistics. Both teams made 18 field goals out of 45 attempts, with each sinking four 3-pointers in the first half.

Wolves C Rudy Gobert (Personal) Uncertain for Game 2
The Impact of Rudy Gobert's Absence Against the Nuggets in Game 2
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.
In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.
Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.
Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
