Chicago Bulls Secure Back-to-Back Wins Over Charlotte Hornets

Scoring 27 points in his home state, Coby White led the Chicago Bulls to a 119-112 victory against the Charlotte Hornets in overtime on Monday night, after a shaky late stretch. The Bulls secured the first eight points of extra time, with Nikola Vucevic contributing two baskets.

Andre Drummond notched up 21 points and 15 rebounds, and Vucevic also attained 21 points. Additionally, DeMar DeRozan provided 18 points, although Zach LaVine, returning for just his second game after a 17-game absence, was limited to nine points in 35 minutes coming off the bench.

This marks the Bulls’ back-to-back victories over the Hornets, with the first game of the doubleheader occurring on Friday night in Chicago.

Despite Terry Rozier’s exceptional performance with 39 points and eight assists for the Hornets, they were unable to secure a victory in overtime. Rozier had a 7-for-13 performance from beyond the arc and made all 12 free throw attempts. Miles Bridges contributed 24 points, Nick Smith Jr. scored 15 points in a substitute role, and Nick Richards added 10 points for the Hornets, who have suffered defeats in 13 of their last 14 matches.

The Hornets managed to erase a seven-point deficit in the last 3 1/2 minutes of regulation, ultimately tying the game at 107-107 with a shot from Bridges with 46 seconds remaining. Rozier missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer in the final moments. Meanwhile, in the latter part of regulation, DeRozan struggled to make an impact, going 0 for 3, including a hasty attempt at the buzzer, and committing a turnover in the last 1:40. The Bulls remained scoreless in the last 2:46 of the fourth quarter.

Following a period of trailing, the Bulls mounted a comeback. Charlotte briefly took the lead at 86-85 in the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run, with six points coming from Rozier’s successful free throws after being fouled on two 3-point attempts. Chicago responded with a 3-pointer from White to reclaim a 95-90 lead.

The Bulls displayed a strong performance in the second quarter, securing a 51-43 halftime advantage.

Despite coming off a 1-5 road trip, the Charlotte Hornets were unable to capitalize on the home court advantage.

In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.

Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.

Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
