Brandon Ingram Leads Pelicans to Victory Over Utah Jazz

Brandon Ingram tallied 26 points to lead the Pelicans in securing a 112-105 win against the Utah Jazz on Thursday. CJ McCollum contributed 22 points while Zion Williamson delivered 21 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for the Pelicans. The team had lost three of their last four games.

Collin Sexton scored 26 points and Lauri Markkanen secured 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Jazz, whose winning streak of three games came to an end. Walker Kessler of Utah scored 11 points and Jordan Clarkson added 10.

The Pelicans were in the lead by eight points at halftime and extended it to 10 points twice early in the third quarter. Sexton scored seven consecutive points during a 14-2 run, giving the Jazz a 67-65 lead.

In the third quarter, Ingram scored 12 points and New Orleans seized an 81-76 lead heading into the final quarter. Williamson scored back-to-back baskets at the beginning of the fourth quarter, enlarging the lead to 10, and the Pelicans were ahead 99-90 with 5:29 left before Utah made a comeback.

Sexton and Kris Dunn hit 3-pointers and Kessler dunked, reducing the lead to one before Ingram responded with a 3-pointer. Dunn made another shot, but the Pelicans’ Trey Murphy III hit a 3-pointer, his first field goal after missing his first six shots, and Larry Nance Jr. added a dunk, pushing the lead to 107-100 with 1:27 remaining.

In the first quarter, Ingram completed a three-point play and Naji Marshall scored seven straight points during a 10-0 run, giving the Pelicans a 29-20 lead. keyonte George ended the run with a 3-pointer, and the Jazz closed the gap to three points four times. Williamson’s layup provided the Pelicans with a five-point lead before Simone Fontecchio made a 3-pointer at the buzzer, leaving the Pelicans with a 39-37 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Kessler started the second-quarter scoring with a dunk to tie the game before McCollum made consecutive 3-pointers. Utah narrowed the gap to one point before New Orleans went on a 10-0 run, capped by five straight points from Nance. Markkanen sank a 3-pointer and Kelly Olynyk scored on a put-back, cutting the Pelicans’ lead to 59-51 entering halftime.
