Canada Denies Entry to Miles Bridges from the Charlotte Hornets Before Raptors Game

The Charlotte Hornets might not have forward Miles Bridges in Monday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors as he has been barred from entering Canada, as reported by Charlotte radio personality Kyle Bailey.

The Hornets are working to reverse the decision but it remains uncertain if they will succeed before the 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off time. Bridges caused a stir on Sunday when he posted, then promptly removed, a tweet which stated, “Got denied in the 6.”

The reason for Bridges’ reported entry denial into Canada has not been disclosed, but it is likely connected to the various legal troubles he is currently dealing with. In June 2022, he was accused of multiple serious counts of domestic violence.

While two of the charges were dismissed, Bridges eventually pleaded no contest to a serious charge of harming a child’s parent. This resulted in him avoiding imprisonment but being placed on three years of probation and being mandated to undergo therapy, parenting courses, community service, narcotic testing, and being prohibited from possessing a firearm.

He was also ordered to stay away from the victim. Subsequently, during the early fall, Bridges encountered more problems, facing accusations of violating the protective order from the June 2022 case, in addition to fresh allegations of child abuse and damage to personal property stemming from a threatening occurrence involving his ex-girlfriend while their children were in close proximity.

A preliminary court appearance for the latest allegations was rescheduled from Nov. 13 to Feb. 20. Related to the arrest in June 2022, in April of the present year, Bridges received a 30-game suspension from the NBA, with 20 games being counted for time already served.

He completed 10 games of the suspension at the beginning of the current season. Bridges is averaging 19.6 points and 7.2 rebounds in 14 games this season. The Hornets, placed fourth in the Southeast Division, have a record of 7-17 entering Monday’s game.

Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.

In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.

Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.

Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.

If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
