Spurs Centre Charles Bassey Out for Remainder of Season After Suffering Knee Injury

San Antonio Spurs center Charles Bassey is set to miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury, as reported by the team on Tuesday.
An MRI performed on Monday showed that Bassey, 23, suffered a torn left anterior cruciate ligament, an injury sustained on Sunday while he was on duty with the G League’s Austin Spurs competing against the Texas Legends in Dallas.
No further information or comments were provided by the team.
Bassey featured in 19 consecutive games (with no starts) and maintained averages of 3.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 10.8 minutes per game before being assigned to the G League in early December for more regular playing time.
This is not the first time Bassey has encountered such a fate this season, as he had also concluded the previous season prematurely due to a knee injury. A fractured left patella in March led to Bassey being sidelined for the rest of that season.
Just before that, in February, the Spurs converted Bassey’s two-way contract to a standard NBA contract valued at $10.2 million over four seasons.
Bassey appeared in 23 games in 2021-22 with the Philadelphia 76ers, who drafted the 6-foot-10, 230-pound player from Western Kentucky in the second round of the 2021 draft.
His career statistics encompass averages of 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 77 games played (including two starts).

Wolves C Rudy Gobert (Personal) Uncertain for Game 2
The Impact of Rudy Gobert's Absence Against the Nuggets in Game 2
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.
In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.
Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.
Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
