76ers Have to Deal with Ongoing Injury Concerns Ahead of Their Clash with Rockets

As the top scorer in the NBA, aiming for a third straight scoring title, Joel Embiid, the center for the Philadelphia 76ers, is a dominant presence. His absence has a significant impact on the team’s lineup, as demonstrated by the 76ers’ 0-4 record in games when Embiid was unavailable this season.
However, despite Embiid sitting out due to an ankle injury, the 76ers achieved a convincing 112-92 victory against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. As they prepare to face the Houston Rockets on Friday, Embiid is still undergoing treatment at the team’s facility near Philadelphia.
The win in Orlando not only provided a vital result but also showcased how Philadelphia can excel without the usual dominance of Embiid. “We need to adapt our playing style when he’s not there,” mentioned 76ers coach Nick Nurse. “Our main focus is to play well enough to give ourselves a chance to win even without Joel.”
The Sixers found success by employing a well-balanced offensive strategy led by Tyrese Maxey, who scored 23 points, along with Tobias Harris and De’Anthony Melton, who both contributed 22 points each. Prior to this game, Philadelphia had been struggling to find the right scoring distribution without Embiid. Nurse commented, “Tobias set a good tempo and showed excellent decision-making. De’Anthony’s 4-for-7 performance from beyond the arc is something we can rely on. Maxey demonstrated exceptional game reading skills.”
The Rockets also grappled with injury problems, particularly the absence of Dillon Brooks against the Phoenix Suns, resulting in a 129-113 defeat. Brooks’ primary defensive role against Suns forward Kevin Durant was sorely missed. Furthermore, starting forward Jabari Smith Jr. exited the game in the third quarter with a left ankle sprain. Both Brooks and Smith will be sidelined for the upcoming match against Philadelphia.
Rockets coach Ime Udoka acknowledged the challenges posed by the absence of key players and stressed the need for impactful performances from the available players, especially in the absence of starters.

Wolves C Rudy Gobert (Personal) Uncertain for Game 2
The Impact of Rudy Gobert's Absence Against the Nuggets in Game 2
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s availability is questionable for the upcoming Game 2 happening on Monday night in Denver for personal reasons.
In the opener of the Western Conference semifinal series on Saturday, Gobert played a significant role by contributing six points, grabbing 13 rebounds, making three blocks, and assisting three times in the team’s 106-99 victory.
Being a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Star, Gobert maintained an average of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 76 games during the regular season.
Standing tall at 7-foot-1, the 31-year-old Gobert has an overall average of 12.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks throughout his career in 757 games for the Utah Jazz (2013-22) and the Timberwolves.
If Gobert is unable to play against the reigning champions, Naz Reid, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year this season, may step into the starting lineup.
